Hey Guys,
I was wondering what i will need to do to pass the OOP on a 91-92 MR2 GT. My friend brother owns a shop and does safety inspections for MPI (Manitoba). Will he be able to do my OOP? I haven't had a chance to speak with him about it, but i am sure he will be more "flexible" with the OOP.
Dominic mentioned I need to have the headlamp swapped, if this is the case, where would i go about finding a replacement headlamp? Should I also be concerned about the glass in the car and having DRL's running? Is there anything else I should be aware of, mechanical issues, that is a common problem on the MR2? I usually get home by the time my insurance branches offices hours are done, so any advice would help.
Thanks in Advance |

Pop up's there will never be a problem. Replacing the lamp is easy as going to your local auto parts store or crappy tire. they are cheap. Christian had a shop tell him they had to replace a pop up headlight with left hand drive ones, but that insane, They are the exact same, you need not worry about this. You shouldn't have to swap headlights, but you may have to have them re-aimed. I don't know what dom was thinking of.
Your glass is AS1 or whatever, its legal and meets requirements.
Daytime running lights will need to be added. but you can do that yourself, just find a way to hook ignition power up to your parking lights, then u have daytime running lights. You can probably do this with a small piece of wire just in your fuse box bumpering them, but it depends on how liberal the shop is.
As for mechanical issues that varies car to car, and depends on how it was treated, MR2 tend to be pretty good. Tires and tie rob ends are common failures. But there could be anything.
When u get a fail you should be given a certain amount of time to correct any issues, but again, i don't know about your province.
I'm not entirely sure on Man. OOP book, but it's probably similar to alberta, your best bet is to check out GTRCanada or your local automotive forums for more details on local laws.

| Well i talked to my friend, he can "forget" most of the Japanese parts that need replacement, but he won't pass it if it has any problems. So tierods and brakes are my main concern? Also i heard lots of ppls Skylines and Silivias, get jacked, and MPI is offering an incentive with basically free imobolizers (given where 1# in car theft in Canada). Would my MR2 be able to be rigged with this? Just making sure. Thnx in advance, and thats a nice Silvia! |
