| Asshole in Red Buick, plate JPE-476,thanks for the hit & run on 109St & Whyte @3:50PM - Click HERE for Original Thread |

If I had literally been 10 seconds quicker, my camera would've been turned on and focused on your face, car and plate.
That brand new BMW 530i you rear ended has plenty of damage for your insurance to cover.
And her hood punched a nice hole into my rear bumper, too bad it won't be your cost to cover those damages too.
BTW, if anyone knows of a Caucasian male, approx 28 years old, blonde hair shaved short (buzz cut), no glasses, who drives or has access to an older Red Buick, Alberta plate JPE-476, let him know that Constable Smith left a message on his voicemail/answering machine.

Hi Terry,
Nice spot. But with the plate and the car the police should be giving the registered owner of the car a call sometime soon. I think they call with in 24 to 48 hrs of a collision reported and the other party has not shown up. I could be wrong on that.
I wonder if it is the same tool that was impeeding me passing him on the white mud about 2 weeks ago. It was a Red Buick Lesabre with a ricer muffler on it. They car looked to be mid 90's. I did not get the plate nor a good description of the driver.

I have to congratulate you on catching the license plate number as well as the car make and model.. If someone did a hit and run on me, i would be "wtf" and not be fast enough to catch the plate...
good luck on catching him:thumbup: |

This guy rear ended a lady, who in turn rear ended you, and fucked up your bumper? Your car was still driveable, why didn't you chase the guy down, I'm sure the police would have been understanding about *YOU* leaving the scene of the accident to follow the guy who caused it??
I could be wrong about that, but even if you yelled out your window to the lady, "hey that guys running away i'm going to catch him!" I mean *YOU* were the guy with no fault, being in front... So...
And if you had a cell phone, you could call the police while following him, and tell them the situation - and then when the guy stopped the cops could meet you there. |

Why the hell would he put himself in that kind of situation? The damage to his car is on the lady not the hit and run guy. I think he did more than enough to help out that lady, being some sort of vigilante about it would have been stupid.
Nice work though Terry! |

Honestly it was in part the shock of witnessing him taking off.
That and I wasn't going to take a bigger risk in chasing him in the middle of heavy traffic.
(First day of a long weekend, 4PM rush hour, university area, traffic wouldn't be anything BUT heavy.)
Not to mention it would be the lady's insurance who would cover my damages.
Plus what would I be able to do by chasing this guy?
Tell the police what direction he headed in? Done.
Tell them a description of the car? Done
Give them the plate #? Done.
Give them a description of the driver? Done.
IMO, it would be even worse to put myself and any innocent drivers at risk for a potential accident if I were to cut him off and block him in.
He had the intention to flee, so why wouldn't he hop a curb or pull an even more idiotic move to evade me?
His car seemed fairly affordable to write-off but going thru a wild chase, thru traffic, in gravel covered roads, in a costly SUV, without any added benefit should I be able to follow him, without any guarantee that he'd give up, with the additional risk of me causing more problems while he gets away...that kind of pursuit was clearly not the best option to take. |

IIRC, it will come off the insurance of the registered owner of the stolen car for hitting the lady, and it will still come off the lady's for hitting the car in front of her. She's still at fault for being stopped "too close" to the car ahead of her.
That's why you get a discount for having anti-theft devices. |
