Ok so i was headin out in the Winter Beater due to our STELLA April weather thus far. It's a 92 Mazda Protege.
Pulling onto Gretzky all of a sudden i start slowing down. I step on the gas. Nothing. I completely lost throttle.
So i pull over. Kill the ignition. Go to start it, and it just chugs, It's turning over but just chugging.
Really dont feel like wasting any money on this POS but what you guys think it is? Only thing i can think of is the Fuel Pump.
Make sense?

do you get a check engine light? best bet would be pull your codes (if you're getting any). its hard to diagnose from a "chugging" noise... something might have just wiggled loose (like a spark plug wire or belt)? see if you're getting fuel to the intake manifold (fuel pump check) see if you're getting spark (distributor/firing system check)... if all of that is running, you might have a serious engine/compression problem?

car might not be running on all cylinders.... an easy way to isolate the problem is to pull each spark plug wire off while the car is running. If the idle gets rough when you pull the plug that cylinder should be ok. If the idle stays the same, that means there is something wrong with the cylinder...... easy way to check if you have a bad spark plug or not

Well its simple, what does a gasoline engine need to run? spark, fuel and air and you go from there. It doesnt seem like a spark problem because well, its fires up and if you lost a single cylinder, you would not lose your throttle. So unless all your spark plugs are toast, not likely, but hey, you can always check. Check for air. This is usually pretty simple, if you have an air filter check to make sure some mouse didnt make a nest out of it and block it off completely ( its sad, but ive seen this several times ). And alas fuel. Im thinking this is the problem, but I dont know exactly what it is. If the engine still turns over and will run at idle but rough, its not losing all fuel, just 95% of it :). The last thing, is computer problems, and for that, is your local OBD scanner.
