Did anyone see this quote on the news or in the paper?
quote: Strilchuk and her friends had no lifejackets and saw a man clutching a lifejacket. She pleaded with him to hand it over.
"He was holding it and he was 40 years old and we were kids," she said, describing how she made a fist and walloped him in the face and took the lifejacket for a friend.
Moments later the feisty teen smoked another man and took his lifejacket for herself.

Nice. Stealing someone else's life jacket :asshole: in that situation is deplorable.
I would expect that behavior from an American not a Canadian
 |

They left out the part in italics. Kids these days. |

| if i were that man they took the lifejacket from, they wouldnt be alive anymore after especially after what they did. for all we know, those guys they took lifejackets from could have had medical problems:rolleyes: |

Ummm, why not share? WTF is wrong with people? No it's not likely the lifejacket will keep them both afloat if they are unconscious, but if they both just needed a bit to help keep them up as they tread water.
Actually, maybe the better question is, why didn't they grab their own lifejackets before getting off the boat? |
|
|
| HEWSINATOR |
Exactly, I do not think being a teen means you have a god given right to the life jacket over the older man you may not be able to swim/medical condition as noted, etc...
This is deplorable. A little bit of entitlement in these kids? |
|
|
| Fish_e_o |
the forty year olds probably had kids and a family
the teens have been alive for what 13 years fuck them they're not worth anything to society... |

Thanks Justin!
quote: Strilchuk said she was thinking of her family, how much see missed them and how badly she wanted to see them.
Wow, her family must be so proud.
Interesting that they printed her name, grade, school and town in the article. What she did (punching people and stealing their lifevests) is not something to brag about. I'm surprised it was included in the article at all.
I hope at some point, some how someone makes her answer for what she did. |

Why didn't the 40 year old punch that bitch right back twice as hard?
I hope she gets egged and hit by a bus. |
|
|
| ohboyitsme |
The worst part is at least in the article she isn't doesn't even sound ashamed for what she has done.
There was two people who died. Wonder how she would feel if the person she assaulted was one of them. |

Because he would of been charged with assault
What if the 40 year old had a wife and three little kids? Who is going to take care of them if he dies? What does the 16 year old have? A visa bill to take care of when she gets home? What a joke. I would of kicked her ass off of the boat; literally, without a life jacket.

Way to go parents, teachers, mentors, coaches, uncles, and every other supposed role model for these kids. They absolutely failed in teaching anything about integrity, honor, teamwork, respect, courage under pressure, or bravery.
If you are a man, (or shit even a woman), don't let children and youth around you get the idea that stealing lifejackets from old folks is the proper way to deal with an emergency. Show some honor, and get these kids to as well. I'm embarassed at this whole story. |

so let me get this straight....she punched a guy for a life jacket even though they were getting onto lifeboats??? and she did all this drama while still on the boat? seems a little extreme....what if that guy died? is she charged with murder? or at least assault?

Difficult to prove if you drown the sluts instead of punching them.
They had no lifejackets, what is to stop me from grabing that skank and holding her down untill she stops breathing. No witnesses, no life jacket. "I dunno.... she just went under"
I saw the interview on Global when they were in the airport. I hope they are killed off before then enter the working class.
Last thing we need is another skank bimbo soccer mom roaming the streets thinking the world revolves around her. It revolves around me.
As for the Visa, her mommy and daddy pay for that shit. |

| OK, after reading the article it sounds like she was under the impression that they were going to have to jump into the ocean at first. If thats the case, honestly Im not surprised. While I dont believe I could ever choose my life over someone elses I have never been in the situation where I had to make the choice. I can however understand that someone who is in a precived crisis would let their survival instincts take over and do what ever they though was nessasary to survive. Like I said, I couldnt do it but I can understand how/why someone would and I cant hold it against them. |

I might consider sharing, however if some teenange broad punched me to get my life jacket and demanded it. I would drown her given 1/2 the chance.
I would be like that was like a totally cool idea. She had like no chance of getting my life jacket...like ya! |

I can.
And I do.
After the Titanic went down in 1912, it's pretty common knowledge that there's enough lifeboats for everyone. There's always been enough lifejackets. The ship was not sinking fast at all. |

I know you guys said you would drown her, but if YOU were HER and you thought that your life was in real serious jepordy the question I have for you is would you do what ever you thought was nessasary to preserve your life. Like I said before, I cant imagine doing it myself, but I think its also impossible to say for sure without being in the situation. |

You're right. People don't know how they will behave in a threatening situation. This girl behaved... poorly.
Saying something like, oh well, it was scary and i don't know what I'd do in that situation (which is true, I've only ever sunk a canoe) and accepting what she did is just not cool.
As a society and culture we need to uphold values of courage, bravery, and honor. That's why we have awards like the cross of valour, and medal of bravery. And this isn't just to be a hero, it's so that if you or I are ever fucked up in a burning car or stuck on a sinking ship at least someone might try to help you out (and not punch you in the face).
Tacitly accepting this girl's behavior means we are all less close, less supportive, less community oriented, less caring, less honorable, and less safe. That's not a society I want to live in. I'm not saying this girl should be completely ostracized or anything, but her behavior definitely should not be accepted in any way. Like I said before, I am embarrassed that this happened, at her attitude, at the possibility I might meet her in my moment of need, at the fact this happened in front of foreigners, at the whole damn situation.
She fucked up.
Period. |

Here are some better stories, no punching or stealing involved:
Decorations for Bravery
Miss Judi Ann Skinner, M.B.
Salmon Arm, British Columbia
Medal of Bravery
Date of Instrument: May 2, 1977
Date of Presentation: June 17, 1977
Nineteen-year-old Judi Skinner swam to the rescue of a fifteen-year-old boy, who was thrown from his rowboat at Shuswap Lake on 3 June 1976. A wave had swamped the boat and thrown the youth overboard as he was reaching out for his fishing-rod. When Judi saw him floundering in the water, she removed her boots, dived from a wharf and swam some yards against a high wind and white caps. Persisting in spite of her exhaustion, she grasped the victim and brought him back to the wharf, where others helped them out of the water.
Decorations for Bravery
Mrs. Pamela Anne Switzer (née Stewart), M.B.
Surrey, British Columbia
Medal of Bravery
Date of Instrument: October 18, 1976
Date of Presentation: February 11, 1977
Pamela Stewart, aged seventeen, saved a nine-year-old boy who fell off a dock on his bicycle at Port Edward on 24 March 1974. Pamela, strolling by at the time, heard the boy's cries and saw him floating some thirty feet out from shore. Though a poor swimmer she plunged into the cold water and struggled against a strong undertow to reach the boy. After calming him she towed him to the dock, where both were helped out of the water. |

Anyone up for a roadtrip to Toefield high school? :)
A good person takes good care of themselves, a better person takes good care of themselves and those around them.
It's painfully obvious that Kristen has nothing to offer society and probably never will with that attitude.
I don't know what I'd do in that situation, but I sure as hell wouldn't beat people and jack their shit. If anyone did, why the hell would they be so proud of that?. It's like she's blatantly waving it in everyones faces "Ha!, I beat someon down and jacked their life jacket to survive" oh, whoopee...
I hope karma acts soon and she suffers at the hands of some twisted irony. |

If I was her I would not have been in that situation on the first place. The moment I boarded that ship I would have made myself aware of where the life jackets are and where the life rafts are. Secondly, the moment I felt the ship suddenly stop or lurch I would have grabbed a life jacket and headed for the life rafts.
Fuck that noise she was probalbly to busy texting her friend accross the room and doing her makeup to really care.
To answer your question of would you do what ever you thought was nessasary to preserve your life? Yes, I would drown her. I am not interested in saving her life, nor having her punch me or potentially drag me down with her. |

Anyways... My favorite quote:

Uh, your 16. I'm sure you are running around (old enough to drive) in your daddy's F350, getting trashed (old enough to drink to be cool) and fooling around (old enough to fuck) with all the yokel rednecks around Tofield.
She is no kid. Put a 16 year-old and a 40 year-old in a pool and see who can tread water longer.
I wouldn't be surprised if the guy she stole the PFD from was panicking because he didn't even speak English. |
