Posted this on EO, thought I might share this with you guys too.<p> This is a loooong post by someone named Jay Hassinger who used to campaign a *very* fast daily driver. An 11 second 1997 200SX SE-R Turbo. <p> This was a response from to a Stang driver who was slamming Nissans.
Begin email:<p> > Just keep in mind that "little Nissan that could" had thousands and
>thousands of dollars sunk into it just to run somewhat faster than that Stang.<p> What are you smoking crack...pull your head out of the sand.<p> That was a 񙉼 shipped bolt on power adder on a stock long block. It's my
old car.<p> The car pulled 116mph in the quarter at 16psi and street tires! That's IT.
It laid down 330whp at 16psi, and 409 at 22psi. I have trapped well in the
120's at 20psi of boost. Never ran it full boost.<p> How many stock long block Mustangs are doing that with a bolt on power
adder? None. I know of one INCON TT Stang that pulled 117mph on the stock
longblock and it was a Cobra with the stock GT40 heads and intake...Man
don't get me started. Your messing with the wrong 4cyl compact. This isn't
a Civic with a 1.6 liter D16.<p> Show some respect. This is a Nissan list, if you want to hear about build
Stangs go to corral.net.<p> This is flame so you can take it that way...Oh yea and I'm a former 11
second Stang owner so think about that for a minute too.<p> Too all sorry for the reply to an ignorant post, but this got me going
pretty good. Please don't perpetuate the ignorance.<p> Jay Hassinger<p>
This is the car, it has been sold already, so don't bother emailing Jay. (I already have)<p> http://www.ctwd.net/ser/index3.htm<p> Here are some other faaast Nissans in case you had any other doubts. Alot of these guys are running stock blocks with the bolt on turbo stage II or better F-Max
Turbo kits.<p> http://www.ctwd.net/ser/index2.htm<p> And here are some way cool videos and audio clips of Nissans beating up on everyone:<p> http://www.ctwd.net/ser/mpeg/<p>I've blown the brass line that feeds my fuel pressure gauge again and lost 1/4 tank of gas, I caught it abit faster this time but I still need to fix it again <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo--><p> |

Posted by Mike Kojima of SCC regarding the same topic:<p>> > Just keep in mind that "little Nissan that could"

> > of dollars sunk into it just to run somewhat
> faster than that Stang.<p>If the plugs were not fouled on Ron's car, that
Mustang would not have been just somewhat beaten, but
eaten, chewed up and spit out.<p>To get equvalent power out of a 4.6 or 5.0 without NOS
you must spend about 񙮌 bucks and it won't be as
relaible as a turboed SR at that point. Thats just
power, not faster.<p>I used to have an 11 second street mustang (11.90 @113
12 years ago) that was featured in Carcraft magazine.
I thought that car sucked to drive so I sold it right
after I drove a twin turbo Z for the first time.<p>My turbo SE-R is much more streetable and nicer to
drive than that mustang ever was. Even built the Ford
motor was marginal, the block lacking intergity. My
turbo SE-R once it get past the FWD wheelspin is
faster than that Mustang by alot. It is also faster
than my 600+ hp super trick twin turbo Z untill it
runs out of gear. I have less money in it than in my
Z and about the same as I had in the stang.<p>After having owned and built fast domestics, I don't
miss them one bit. The SR20 and the B18C are my
favorite motors of all time.<p>Mike.<p><grin> |

Whats up guys.. Just got back from Englishtown Raceway Park NJ and wanted to let you know the news.. James Farrer earlier around 5pm EST Ran a <a href="mailto:9.83@145.66">9.83@145.66</a> MPH to make him the worlds fastest SE-R or FWD Nissan for that matter. We were up till 2am last night rewiring the car and doing a little tricks here and there. <p>For the most part its the same turbo and fuel he has been running from the start which is still considered small by most and small to the honda camp.<p>Some new Stickier tires and some little Farrer Tricks and she went..<p>Wish him luck as he goes to Battle Of the Imports tommorow morning.<p> |

| I think the new Sentra will put Nissan right up with the Hondas. But I personally think they should have named it something else to get rid of the stereotype econobox. |
|
|
| TurboBlueNX |
| Well, as much as I hate to admit it, all Nissan did was put a great engine in a econobox, and tuned the suspension <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> |

For best efficiency wouldn't you want the turbo as close to the exhaust ports as possible? <p> |

| Reno, not really, what counts is when the exhaust pulse hits the turbine. Ideally, you'd want exhaust pulses to hit the turbine one after another, so it creates power steadily and even. like boof....boof....boof....<p>Instead of boof, boof.......boof..........boof..boof.<p>The idea of playing with the length of the tubes you can affect the timing of the exhaust pulse. <p>Similar to what headers do to NA cars, Turbo cars can benefit from this to.<p>With that setup, you'll make waay more power that a typical manifold that isn't like that long tubular one.<p>Seven: The new SE-R is supposedly to be somewhere in the 18 grand US range. That would place it about 26 to 28 large Canadian. Right in Honda's Civic SIR pricing and Toyota Celica GTS. But that's what I hear |

| That's cool. I wonder what the Sentra had under it's hood?<p> |

| TurboBlueNX |
Here ya Go talented, I asked nicely:<p>From Ryan Nielsen<p>Last week I dyno'd @ 1.4 - 1.5 bar which equals about 19-20 psi of boost. I
dyno'd with a stock 91 intake cam in my 98 head. The baseline run for the
car was done at 1 bar (14psi). The car put down 266hp and about 240ft-lbs.
We then turned the boost up to about 1.4-1.5 bar (19-20 psi) and ran the car
again. The car made 311hp and 292ft-lbs of torque. Ben and I thought that
at higher boost the stock cams are choking up the engine and I ordered some
JWT S3 on Tuesday. I put them in on Thursday night and went back to the dyno
on Friday for a couple more pulls. My baseline runs at 1 bar were 282hp. I
cant recall the torque numbers and I did not get a print out of that chart
yet. I then turned the boost up to 1.4-1.5 bar and dyno'd again. The car
put down 363hp and 325ft/lbs of torque. I was pretty impressed with the
numbers.<p>
I use a Greddy electronic boost gauge and the #### thing jumps around
between 1.2 bar and 1.5 bar on the dyno. Its really hard to tell exactly
what boost its running at. Next time I go I am going to use a Autometer
Mechanical gauge as well as the Greddy gauge and see if I can get a dead on
reading for the boost.<p>
As far as the car, the car was using 110* leaded fuel, timing was set @ 15,
open exhaust, 4th gear, and on stock B14 wheels.<p>
The seems to run allright on the dyno and then when its at the track the
ignition seems to cut out in the top of every gear @ above 7000rpm. I still
need to install the MSD ignition and will return to the dyno to see if it
helped.<p>
