Door Ding\ dent Removal - Click HERE for Original Thread

Kwanjie
got a HUGE ass door ding on my car yesterday :tear: :tear: , it's in the middle of the door, no paint removed, the dent is sorta Vertical. I wanna get it pulled out so it looks like it had never been hit. Any recommendations on where I should bring it into?

You can try Ming.

ManHunter
Ming Shine will do a pretty good job.

How can I repair door dents?

I have had dings in other cars and was given this great and cheap fix, from a factory guy who said this is their soultion. Buy Dry Ice and place directly onto the ding and allow the cooling effect to "pop" the ding out.

Where to buy? Look in yellow pages under dry ice.
Cost? I think it was about $5 for one pound.
Results? Small, shallow, dish-like dings usually come right out or are reduced. If there's a crease or it's severe, this trick won't work.
So how does it work its magic? As the dry ice cools the surface inside the dent the metal contracts (i.e. shrinks) from the cold and pulls the dent out. You need to be careful when appling the dry ice as it's NOT a flesh friendly product! Be sure to wear a pair of leather gloves or use a thick towel while handling it. Place the ice right on the dent for about 4-5 minutes.
Note: When the ice makes contact the metal will groan and crackle, this is normal. You may even hear a small pop, indicating the ding is gone. I did this over 2 yrs ago to 3 areas on my vehicle and haven't seen any change in the paint or metal.

two more less thought of options
you can try using a plunger, this usually will pull out medium to large size dings
or you might want to pull the door panel and push the dent out from the inside
other than that ming or almost any reputable body shop, I have had good experience with Imperial Collision in Edmonton.

The Ding King!

Seems like people on the Durango board are having decent success with that thing on medium to large dents. Domestic sheet metal, import sheet metal, what's the difference? Most "imports" are made in CanUsa anyways.

Talk to TriStar Collision and talk to Bruce Church :)

colossus
Tri-star is probably one of the most EXPENSIVE shops in Edmonton to get bodywork done. I just tried the Dry Ice on ding's thing.... nonsense, doesn't work at all. Wasted $ & time trying, made no difference on the dings on the door.
