Gunman, hostage dead at NASA building, police say - Click HERE for Original Thread

Ohh.. .another shooting in the states. My prediction was right. Looks like the "armed" personnel at NASA did their job and took him out, oh wait, no they did not, he shot and killed a hostage and then him self. There goes that theory.

Don't see anything about NASA allowing guns on the property.

All I see is something saying that NASA forbids it.

Perimeter security wouldn't have been trained for a hostage situation either, hence the call to the SWAT Team. While they were planning, he ended it himself.

I am assuming non NASA staff are not allowed to come on to the property with guns.

Why would security not be allowed to not carry firearms at a flight control center? Seems kind of ironic with the big push towards for "security".

Security guards are basically rental cops.

Yes, lets have armed personnel at airports, but not at lets say a shuttle control flight center.

What a fucking joke.

I also predict something again for next week. Lets say by Tuesday.

I never said NASA security wasn't armed, because I don't know. It's the USA, so I would "assume" that they are.

But I doubt they're trained for hostage negotiation and retreival, so they have to hand it off to a local department's SWAT Team or, since it's in a Federal building, maybe even the FBI's HRT.

So if they were armed would it not make the argument of arming them mute if they are not trained to hostage negotiate nor find an ideal opportunity to shoot?

In the states, if you look at anyone right now funny on Federal Property you will have the SWAT team called in.
They live in a world of delusion, censorship and paranoia.

You could say that about anyone who carries a gun for a living, including me.

Yes because the scenario of a psychotic student who kills people, returns home for more ammo, and then walks around killing more is definately comparable to a guy who goes into a building, takes a few hostages, executes one and then himself.

IN case you didn't pick up on it, that was sarcasm. You can't take a suggestion that was presented to assist in a few specific cases and apply it to EVERY armed gunman situation. Even at that, if there were armed employees walking around, what did it hurt? That's right, NOTHING.

Now create the same situation of a gunman walking around instead of being stationary and commiting one execution before killing himself within the first few minutes, and we MAY have seen armed security able to do something.

You seem to imply armed security is pointless. So yes, let's go with your plan and have NO armed guards anywhere. They didn't do anything in this case, so naturally they never will. Yup. Definately the better option.

Oh I'm sorry, can I not take your statement and make a blanket like that? Because it seems to me that's what you're trying to do. Good job on the predictions though. I predict someone dies of cancer in the next week too. Do I win a medal for that?

Just to let you guys know that it happens everyday in the houston area. I've spend the last 8 months there and I've seen swat shoot and kill a guy in the same scenario, right a cross from my hotel. I didn't even see it on the news the next day. They have 2-3 murders everyday there.

SWAT shooting someone is hardly murder. It probably prevented one.

It was the same scenario, a guy killed his wife and was waving his guns around inside a bakery for like an hour and they dropped him.

Thought it was Miami or Detroit.

New Orleans has traditionally had the highest rate, that may have changed with the flood, but I doubt it. Washington DC was 2nd with Detroit rounding out the top 3rd. The rest I'm hazy on, though I don't recall Miami even being in the top 10. I know Atlanta was up there, one of the top 5 IIRC.
