Starting back to work on Tuesday, working construction, can anyone suggest any shit to buy that will last long but be a good lunch?
Last year I bought sandwich meats and always got sick of making them every night and they would go bad..
Any "cheap" stuff you guys can think of? I live by myself so it must stay good for a long time.. |

| Double Chocolate Costco Muffins. Buy them bulk, stick them in the freezer, and you eat like a fat lady every day! |

| i stuck a bunch of cup noodles and forks in my trunk. its only good if you have a source for hot water. doesnt really fill you up though |
|
|
| tokes |
| I did that with cans of tuna. Sure, you smell like a hobo but you drain off a little bit of water and it's fairly filling and a good bit of protein. |

| High boost.. that's always a good lunch. |

im in maintenance tradesmen world.
do you have access to a microwave? i'm assuming so.
campbell's makes a soup in a can.. creamy tomato is amazing. 1:15 to make
buy a huge pot, throw in meat, beans, tomatoes, and whatever else you want. and make the meanest chilli ever. keep it frozen...
it'll last a week at a time. all you need is to butter some bread and you've got a healthy meal that you'll enjoy too! |

ive done it for a while, but you get bored of them after the first dozen or in my case, 3 months. i usually go out once a week and feast on a cup of noodle 4 times a week now. another guy i work with brings in cans of whatever, a microwavable bowl, and a can opener. |

Instant noodles are soooo bad for you. No nutritional value to them and they are loaded with calories and salt :p
I do like Spicy Chicken Mr. Noodles though...

Gas or diesel truck? Get some Hot Stuffs or Pizza Pops, wrap them in tinfoil and stick them on top of the exhaust manifold for about 10-15 minutes (Gas) or 15-20 minutes (diesel) (With the truck running of course) and you're good to go. Not exactly Peking Duck but what are you gonna do? Have you ever seen a frozen Pizza pop go bad?
PS: If you have seen a frozen Pizza pop go bad you have bigger problems that what to eat for lunch. |

| A little tough in the summer, but you can always just crank the heat in the truck on defrost and toss a frozen dinner on there. 10-15 minutes should get it nice and warm ... possibly to a nice temperature for bacteria to grow ... |

| Vector bars and M&Ms kept me alive up north. Back at the hotel was real meals, but during the day, the adrenaline of running under helicopters was enough to not need a lot of food. |

This works. I've eaten Chef Boyardee out of the can after putting it on the turbine side of the turbo. I wasn't really that hard up, I just wanted to try it.
I also used to snowmibile with a guy who had a little wire mesh tray on the muffler of his sled. Put some chicken fingers or something in tinfoil and keep riding for 15 minutes. Mmmm hot food in the middle of nowhere. |

Is it as good as advertised? I ask because I was really thinking of buying one for camping... we sometimes live in the car for a few weeks each summer and I think it would be totally dope to be able to warm up some food without having to pull over, that and it comes with a cooler bag that fits right into the wavebox.
I could run it off the car battery, for which I have solar panels for recharging, or I could run it off our little Honda 350 generator. (it's like the smallest gas generator I have ever seen)

*EDIT*
Their backordered?!?!?!? SHIT!!!! thanks for the heads-up STiPWR |

| What I am planning on doing this summer is once a week boiling a huge pot of spagetti and putting it in little containers. I love cold spagetti, and it keeps well in the fridge. I am also planning on buying a huge bulk box of chicken breasts, bbq them on a day off, then make sandwiches, soup, you name it. :) |
