I thought that might be your RX-7 but I wasn't sure. I was marshalling down at the end of the back straight for the afternoon sessions.
Was that you that spun down at that end. I think it was an RX-7, but I don't remember which one. |

This was the high performance school that was postponed b/c of snow in April right?
What did u guys end up learning? More track then solo II stuff i'm guessing.

Stevey: Yeah it was the driving school & not the rally school. Road Course :)
Chris: Yeah they rescheduled it to May 19th cuz of that damn BLIZZARD!!!!
We ended up learning stuff like weight transfer, what the different types of corners are, stuff like that :)
I would like to attend some more track meets to put more seat time under my belt (no pun intended), so if any of you are thinking of going down to calgary for some meets (i.e. Beyond.ca has them every now & then).....MESSAGE ME!!!!! |

Well, I wasn't sure what you or your car looked like. I knew you drove an RX-7, but that was about it. I was eyeing name tags but I didn't see you. I think I saw Edwin though. I milled about for the last bit of the last classroom session, carrying a black bag, wearing a black VW racing cap and white coat.
I didn't actually see Edwin spin, just the end result. We were standing there and the marshalling instructor was saying how you have to be careful not to get too complacent when marshalling because nothing will happen for a very long time and then all hell brakes loose.
Right at that moment, the #25 VW Rabbit decides to take a wider line to enter our corner. He tucked to the right on that little right hand bend at the end of the back straight and stayed right on the edge of the pavement. I swear he was going to put it into the hay bales/cement wall but he kept it about half an inch away. Edwin was following right behind him, although he didn't take that wide a line. Anyway, we all kinda jumped back and just as we're catching our breath and the instructor was saying "I told you so", Edwin spun in the following corner.
I think maybe he saw the Rabbit do its thing and got distracted or something. |

No, that must have been one of the other guys. Keep trying though, there were only 3 of us. :)
I was planning on doing a lot of marshalling down there this year, but almost all of the races are the same day as the Edmonton Solo II events. I'd rather drive in Solo II than marshall a road race. |
