My girl and I want to stay in a hotel in Edmonton for a night or two, and have no idea where to go.
She likes the look of The Palace Holiday Inn, but there is no pool (we really want a pool).
We don't want to go downtown, and no Fantasyland.
If it is possible, a decent restaurant nearby would be a plus.
Basically we want a nice 2-day vacation in/near the city. The Leduc Holiday Inn seems nice, but I'm not too sure on the dining situation there.
For what it's worth, should we just go out of town (Jasper)? |

Yup.
JPL, Banff Springs or Chateau Lake Louise are awesome. |

| Jasper for sure. I just got back from a nice relaxing weekend there. It was great other than there was a rowdy rugby tourney in town. |

Yes. And they have valet parking, so you just have to pull up out front and they will deal with your car and you don't have to worry about parking it. |

that's not always a good thing:dunno: |

| True, but most of their valet drivers are not young guys. And it is nice not having to worry about parking on Whyte if you aren't from Edmonton. |

The Mettera on whyte is very nice, feels more like an apartment than it does a hotel. The widescreen TV and the walk-in shower are very nice perks. The only downsides are the noise Fri/Sat night but you'll probably be tanked anyway, and the parking. Trying to get into their valet stalls can be quite the pain in the ass. People aren't so kind while you try to parallel park on our busiest strip. I've stayed there once and will definitely do it again.
Sutton is a nice hotel overall, the rooms however I find mediocre. I've stayed there adleast 3 times that I can remember. We quite enjoy the weekend away from everyone in town.
I stay in lots of hotels all over because my job takes me away from home and I have to say the above two are on my top list. |

| If you want a really nice hotel( unfortunately it is downtown and doesn't have a pool) the Union Bank Inn is one of the nicest places in the city. There are only a few rooms and they have all been designed differently. They are either very modern or have an older design to them depending on which wing you are in. I spent a weekend there with a g/f and absolutely loved it |
