Listen up fuckers, sick of all the crybaby shit-stained balls bullshit going on around here, let's get another BBQ on the go for tonight!
I spoke with Karyn, she still has a bunch of leftover hotdogs and buns and shit, so we're rallying the troops again.
I'll bring burgers and buns, if somebody else wants to grab a couple of cases of pop or "soda" as our cousins to the south call it, and chips or whatever else...
I don't know what we'll do for condiments, like cheese, or bacon bits and mustard/ketchup/relish/etc.
It's 6 hours away, so let's get some kind of organization going, thanks everybody! |

the people who said they were going to bring shit (condiments, bread, marshmallows (HAHAHA)), lived up to their word, and you're awesome in my book.
chromey fucking saved the day by going on a supermarket run and picking up buns and chips and cheese and stuff.
thanks to the guys who ran off and picked up some cases of pop.
also, a special thanks to skitlz girl for putting up with all our (my especially) bullshit, you're a cool cat and you're very polite and mature and respectful when you want to be.
all in all, the 30 mins of rain just made everybody happier when the sun came out and the bbq fired up.
i had a pretty damn good time. |

Well when there are 20 plus people out there and only three people bring stuff, that's pretty weak. Glenn and his cousin pulled in late, noticed there wasn't stuff to drink and ran to grab some cases of pop, missing out on the burgers that Rob brought. Luckily someone brought a few more so they were able to grab one.
I don't mind buying a bit extra, but if people knew that the meet was happening, they also knew that the potluck BBQ was going on. If you plan on eating it shouldn't be a big deal to stop at 7-11 on the way and grab some chips or pop or marshmallows or anything. If there is stuff left over you can always snag whatever is left of what you brought to take it home. |

Why dont you guys just make the rule simple: Bring your own food and cook on the Hawrelak BBQ.
If theres some left over nobody wants sure, but bring your own. And if you don't bring anything, don't be expecting to eat =)

on sunday karyn brought 24 hot dogs and buns and condoments
i brought chips and 3 cases of pop
mike brought burgers
and other mike brought a few hotdogs and buns
and there were like 20 or 30 people out
but whatever, i understand but i just hope that next time if i bring nothing no one will refuse if i ask for a pop and a hot dog cus i will bring stuff out,
lets just set a regular date and time a week to do this
that would make things better |

I agree with shawley, as long as everyone pitches in once in a while, it should solve the "weaseling" problems. If EVERYONE brought something, I'm sure there would be WAY to much.
When I'm in town and if I come, I have no problem bringing some food and drink. I also don't mind if others have some, thats why I'll bring it...for everyone to share.
I dont think its fair for people to come all the time and not chip in. But like shawley said, if he brought food last time, he should be able to have a hot dog and pop without feeling bad.

OK, sorry. I guess I should have been more clear. When I showed up an hour after the thing started there were about 20 people around and only Rob had brought anything. I expected that by the time I got there everyone would have eaten and would just be hanging out.
Rob refused to cook anything until someone got buns and shit, and rightly so. Who's going to eat a burger straight off the grill without a bun or anything on it?
Yet all of these guys standing around waiting for food couldn't be bothered to run to the store?
I definitely get what you guys are saying, that you shouldn't have to contribute every single time. If I hadn't shown up and went to grab stuff then would these guys have just sat there and never bothered to go get buns and shit though?
I suppose we can just tell people. If you didn't bring anything this time, then bring something next time you come out. One person shouldn't have to supply all the meat and another person all of the pop and chips. Spread that shit out, maybe bring a pie or stuff to make s'mores or something too.:thumbup: |

Totally. I think we should set up a regular "BBQ Night" or something, and I wasn't picking on anyone in particular, the only reason I made the post was because Chromey and myself had been discussing it on MSN.
I'm not saying everyone should bring stuff every single time, like I brought the BBQ + MEAT this time, I won't bring meat next time...
But I have ZERO problems bringing the BBQ, I was happy to do it, and I think it makes more sense. The rain would have put out a Hawrelak firepit, but rain isn't going to hurt the actual BBQ, and it's fast/more convenient etc. |
