k, so i know im not the best with computers, but i just cant get my avatar to change. when i go to either upload the file or just use the url link from photobucket, i get the message, "The uploaded file is not a valid GIF or JPG file. Please ensure that it is and try again." But when i look at the file type in photobuck or on my computer it clearly reads .jpg. why the hell am i having such difficulties with this. here is the image im trying to get for my avatar,
please keep the"you suxorz at teh internets" comments to a minimum, i know im not a wiz with computers but i am trying to learn. useful comments welcomed!

It may not be a jpg.
You can great a bmp file or whatever you want, rename it to a .jpg or .gif and most image-viewing programs won't say boo and just display it since it's a valid format.
The name means nothing. There's a standard, one that's pseudo-enforced in Windows but not so much under most other operating systems. If something needs a specific type of image, that program will actually check the files encoding to determine what it really is. |
