Washing/Detailing your car - Click HERE for Original Thread

Bince
Just a couple questions when it comes to making your car look its best.
This is all under the thoughts of washing it yourself.

Is there any certain washing/detailing items that are highly recommended?
ex. any certain Soap/wax/polish/clay bar/tools/cloths/sponges/brushes/power tools/tire cleaner/tire shine/rim cleaner?
Any other washing liquids or equipment i am missing just add onto.... :p

Is there any limit to how many times in a year you wax/polish/clean a car?
Or the more the better?

Mother's Gold Clay Bar
McGuires NXT Tech Wax... that stuff is the shit.

I was wondering if someone good recommend some good stuff for dressing up hoses in the engine bay (something that lasts well in high temperatures).

Also, something for restoring black plastics to the deep black would be good too. I'm using Mother's Back to Black but it doesn't quite get them fully back to a black.

For too way too much info on this subject: www.autopia.org

Personally, NXT rocks, for leather I'm happy with zymol stuff. Though I'm not impressed with myself for not doing my spring detail yet.

if its black or dark cars be extremly carefull when waxing/polishing, because you might end up with tiger stripes or discoloration

for washing I use Meguires Deep Crystal car wash. Interior cleaning; claybar and scratch remover I use Mothers. Polish and wax I use Meguires.

best piece of advice I could ever say: DON"T use Armor All on your car. It is the worst shit you could ever buy/use and it will ruin your car.

And if you do use it either keep using it forever, or get some special remover and clean everything it ever touched.

Also dont use the spray on tire shines, they have a chemical in them that is hard on the tires

I use NXT waxes, after trying 150 other products, NXT is so fast, easy, and very effective. Doesn't last long, but looks great!

NXT Tire Shine, is soo easy to spray on, and never had any issues :)
