MR2 Strut assembly bolt - Click HERE for Original Thread

Heeter
G'Day guys,

I am presently swapping out the four corners of my 1986 mr2. New shocks and springs. I have run into a small problem, though. Well it seems that I think I am replacing the originals as to the amount of resistance throughout the whole disassembly of the swapping project. The driver rear strut assembly has been removed from the car, and now I am trying to disassemble it. The plastic cap was not on the top and all the installation grease has since dried up, I cannot get the bolt removed, badly, badly rusted in. I have even cut the spring apart and cut the ram as well, trying to see if I can hammer it out from under the top plate, to no avail. I have applied heat to it as well with no success. Is there anything I can do? I really do need that top plate for reassembly. Maybe then, where can I get one (top Plate) around town on a Sunday? I do need the car back on its wheels for this evening as it is my work wheels. I certainly was not expecting this. Maybe someone has an extra one for a few bucks? Right now it has been soaking in WD40 since last night. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, MR2Import

After cutting and grinding it some more this morning, I dropped it off at Canadian Tire Kingway, where they officially hosed me for 1 hour labour on the thing. I kinda knew they were gonna do this, so I dropped off everything (both my rear strut assemblies). Since I was gonna pay for 1 hour labour, they might as well do everything. As for the top plate, they torched crap out of it, but they removed it.
Also, thanks for the link. I am gonna register there.

yes that link is good for trouble shooting mk1 problems aswell as mk2 there boards are very friendly and user friendly good luck with the mr2 btw i don;t know if you said but what colour is your deuce?

Heeter
My MR2 is a two-tone, Top half green, Bottom half gold. Was that the only two-tone colors available? I haven't seen or read about any other color combo.
