| So, a couple weekends ago, Jord@n and me get throw in the drunk tank. We were in a cell alone, (no prison sex jokes, lol) and were both shivering cold, and they didn't turn up the heat or anything, even after we asked repeatedly No bed or anything, and they said they couldn't give us blankets, cuz they were covered in puke and it wasn't sanitary or w/e. 9 hours of us laying on the floor freezking our asses off. Came out after about 9 am, signed our names on this thing, got our pics taken and off we went. Does this sound entirely legal? We were no problem to them apparently and were very cooporative.:beer: :beer: :beer: :mad: :mad: :mad: |

| Well, obviously, and we shouldnt have been drunk in public in the first place, even though we were just going home through a field, not near a thing, going the 3 blocks from the beer gardens to my house. But regardless, Shouldn't we have has the right to turn the heat up or something. Like, man, I could feel hypothermia settling in. And this was still even after we were stone cold sober. |

Hypothermia you say, eh? After 9 hours, if it was cold enough for you to get hypothermia, you would have froze. I can almost guarantee you that at no time where you in any danger, and you certainly won't be forgetting your stay.
The usual punishment is to be in a cramped cell full of other drunks. You'd be kept nice and warm by their puke and urine getting on you non-stop. Would you have preferred that? |

| K, guys, I'm not saying i was in any danger, and ya, saying we were gettting hypthermia is a bit of an exxaduration, but my point is that aren't most drunk guys who end up in the tank people who are causing trouble? Like, with no cabs, and no body to drive us, how in the fuck could we have gotten home. Like we honestly were 2 blocks away from home, but they wouldn't let us go home. I would have much preferred the public intoxication ticket, and have been on my way. Fuck, they could have even gave us both rides to my house! Doesn't make sense to me. |

I didn't realize there was such a thing as a "typical" drunk who ends up in the tank. :S And no, most them aren't causing trouble. most of them are just being drunks: loud and disturbing. And sure, you'll say you weren't, but someone obviously complained.
Your question wasn't "did they really have to haul us away?" which would really be more bitching then asking a question and would go somewhere else, your question was were you treated illegaly....and the answer is no, you weren't. You weren't hurt, you weren't in danger, therefore you were treated in accordance with the law.
Personally, guys walking home instead of driving drunk get a thumbs up and are usually left be. But, all we have is your side of the story. I've taken drunks to the tank who were 3 houses away from their house because they were dicks.
Now of course, you'll say you weren't dicks, but again, we'd have 1 side of the story. Are there asshole cops? Sure there are. But there are way more asshole drunks, even per capita.
And what do you mean "no cabs"? You called a cab company and they refused to drive you home? |

No you weren't treated illegally and no you didn't get picked up for being completely innocent and cooperative.
Just be glad it was only you two in the tank instead of having a few more in there puking and pissing all over the floors. That's the kind of treatment you can expect on the busy nights :thumbup: |

I got taken in once, because I had a warrant from forgetting to pay a "Urinating on a Public Highway" fine. Pretty embarassing. It was when I had a girl out on a date and got pulled over for tint.
When they took me in, they took my shoelaces and my belt so that I couldn't hang myself.:lol: :drama: |

LOL I just found this thread. I didn't find it too bad, was kinda cold but whatever, coulda been worse. I just wish I had requested copies of the mug shot haha. We were very pleasant though, well you were, I was half passed out the entire time. If only we had made it to the slide :lol:

You two walked away without "drunk in public" tickets and you weren't charged with causing a disturbance. I'd say you two got off pretty lucky.
I mean, the drunk tank is still jail, its not the Hotel MacDonald. They aren't mandated to adjust the climate and surroundings to your comfort level. It is supposed to be uncomfortable, cold and scary, it is jail. If you get so drunk that you lose control and it causes people to complain to the police about you then the only person you need to blame is yourself. |

Before i knew they did this.. I had a cop ask me if id like to lose my shoe laces for the night when leaving the bar..
I thought it was the dumbest fuckin question and replied "I just bought these shoes so hows no sound"..
