My Sky - Click HERE for Original Thread

So here finally is a picture of my Sky, my dad's vette and my Rav4. I got my dad the rims on the vette for his birthday, they're Cray Scorpion(19/18). The Rav4 has Defy Krook (20's) and the Sky has Foose Nitrous (20's) and Eibach lowering springs. I found that 2" wheel gap to make it look like an off road monster!

The Sky may not be as fast as the corvette, but I can't even drive 10 clicks without having someone pull up next to me to ask me about it. And it gets looks from everyone. Even vette owners come over to oogle my car, and then look like they are going to shit a brick when I tell them it only cost $50k and it's a Saturn!

Wicked! Got any closer pics?

Lets see that house!

As requested:

Cell phone pictures, the first two are pre-lowered, the last one is post lowered.

And no picture of the house yet, my cell phone camera won't fit it all in

Only? :dunno: I'd say why'd it cost that much?

Anyway, nice looking ride.

Nice looking car.

But please, for the sake of your paint, only use one parking stall.

RotaryJunkie13B
Is it the redline? ... even then why would it be 50 000? sticker on gxp/redlines are 38 000..

That's the point, not to get dinged by some dumbass.

ya 50000 seems a bit high for me. espically for a saturn. none the less Sweet looking ride. those rims look awesome on it. my dad always wanted a solstice until he found out u can't put a bag of golf clubs in the trunk.

Its a no-win scenario. You double-park and you risk inciting the rage of some jealous loser who might feel inclined to walk up and KEY your ride, just because.

And from the sound of past threads touching this subject there are a few people on this forum that'd be happy to help them. :banghead:

Yah, you can't win. I park in two spaces, and someone might key me. I park in one space, and sure enough even if the lot where I parked was empty when I come out there is a SUV parked next to me that had some dumbass throw his door into mine. So usually I take two spots, but I always park in the very back of the lot (With exceptions, if the entire lot is full, or I know it will fill up I take one spot. But with that in mind, I never park longer then 10 minutes to grab a bag of ice...or a sandwich or something. This is not my daily driver/grocery getter). And by the time I come out, sure enough there are cars parked all around me. In that picture, the spaces right infront of the store (it was safeway on a Sunday evening) were all empty. Yet I had those cars parked around me.

My car, with options, was 42,500(ish). Then GST knocked it up to 45,000. The rims and springs were $4000.00 when all was said and done, so thats where I get my 50K from (Ok, so it was 49k. My mistake).

And, I know I'll nver please everyone. "Why didn't you buy a 350z? Why not spend an extra 20k and get a vette?" Why? Well, 16 RedLines were sold in Edmonton for the 2007 model year. I have seen 1 other on the road. Can you say that about corvettes? Mustangs? 350z's? And it came stock with a Turbo, so my warranty is still intact. And my mechanical inclination is pretty much nil, so building my own car wouldn't have happened.

There's always room at the back of parking lots. Park way at the back and people don't park beside you. If you are too lazy to walk all that way (my passengers hate me for it), then you have it coming if someone keys you for double parking up front. Even though I park WAAAYYY at the back I still only take one stall. Anything other than that you're an arrogant prick (or lazy. You pick)

By no means am I saying it's acceptable to key someones car though, shit I can honestly say it's prob my #1 pet peeve and I would honestly go nuts and prob get violent if I saw someone key ANYBODY's car, even if they were parked like an asshole. You do not touch another mans vehicle under ANY circumstances.

BTW: Nice Sky. Those are cool frikkin cars. I like them much better than the Solstice GXP.

What I try to do when parking:

- grab an end stall, wherever possible. Then hog the line on the end so you have maximum space between you and the next stall. (even better if the next stall beside you is an extra wide handicap stall).

- avoid parking beside 2-door cars. They have longer doors and are more likely to hit you. Be especially careful of 2-dr Sunfires & Cavaliers. Their doors weigh a tonne and have no resistance in the hinges. The slightest bump with your hip or a breeze and that POS's gonna smoke your car! (ask me how I know... my own wife used to have a scumfire. ).

- if you have to double park, try not to be overly obvious about it. There's subtle and not so subtle. The prick types that park their Cadillacs  at a 45 degree angle across two stalls are asking for trouble. The more subtle way is to casually pull into a stall a little far from the car beside you so you're (oops) partially over the next stall with too narrow a space leftover for the next car. This really only works if there were two empty stalls in your row. If there are three or more, you have no gauruntee how close the next guy is going to park to you. (ie. if there were three stalls and you did this, you may still get TWO other cars try to squeeze into the remaining space).

- as mentioned, park farther away and walk. GFs/wives/SOs will always despise this but oh well. Its worth a bit of extra piece of mind.

- lastly, if you have a *nice* car and a beater/daily driver car, just avoid all this stress by not taking your *nice* car on the errand runs in the first place.

Unless you get the new Z06 with the LS7, or a C5 Z06 with an LS6. Those are all better than the LS1 IMO.

95EagleAWD
Yup, park far away, but don't take two spots.

I walk a lot in parking lots these days.

EK9Hatch
I always park at the back in a end stall as well. I find it works best.

awsome sky man
my dad just got a new sky redline
got it when there was still snow on the ground so had to put it right into the garage when we got it :(
but when he's home (he does 10 days on 4 days off so he's home every second weekend) we usually take it out and go driving.
i never though that i would say that i liked a Saturn untill he bought this.
