Ok so here is what happened.
I needed three rims to have tires mounted and balanced. One of the three already had its tire off. I walk in near closing and talk to one of the guys about mounting my tires. First thing he asks is how big the rims are. I tell him that, that shouldn't reflect the price of mounting my tires. He says, yes it should there is a risk factor involved. So i say, i shouldn't be pay for a risk factor because your shop should be capable of mounting the tires regardless of a small risk that you guys fuck up and have to buy me new ones. He opens his book and shows me some pricing. I say they are 17 inch rims, He says 160 for mounting and balancing. I say, that price should be dropped since on of the rims doesn't even have a tire on it and you don't have to take them off the car or even reinstall them. He says, Doesn't matter the prices are set. I say ok, bye and leave the store.
I have worked at many dealerships and know there is some risk when putting low pro tires on aftermarket rims. However, whenever there was a risk the price would jump maybe 5 dollars or so and the mechanic is given the option to do the mounting or not because of the risk. They NEVER charge that much money based on the size.
So me and my friend get back in the car and drive to goodyear tire even though all the shops are closing up. The guy working tells me the shop is closing up. I ask him if he can still help me out and he says, OF COURSE, i will write up a work order for you and we will start working on it tomorrow. I tell him thank you and explain i need three tires mounted and balanced and that one rim already has the tire off it. Nothing needs to be taken off the car or reinstalled. We figure out the direction pattern i needed and then came my question. How much is this going to cost? he says 15 a rim. I say i have aftermarket 17s. He says, no problem its only five dollars more. So the grand total was 60 plus tax.
The guy working was very nice, friendly, and actually extremely helpful and i am greatful he was willing to work a few more minutes to insure i was happy.
All i can say after this experience is FUCK KAL TIRE and their inflated prices based on risk, if their shop was capable of believing in their own skill they wouldn't need to charge 100 dollars more based on risk. GOODYEAR FTW!!! |

| all the guys that work at kal tire are idiots, and they pretty much scratched up every rim ive gotten mounted their. so i can see why they wanna charge more, to pay for the refinishing of all the ones they ruin:lol: |

| :lol: glad i didn't take my rims there. Wheel works did enough damage to them. the scratched it, put an dent in the it, and took a chip 2mm wide out of the wall. |

| Got the rims back. They did a great job on them. Just one small scratch but i kind of expected it. It actually cost me less than i expected. only 50 dollars for the mounting and balancing. They decided to just charge me the normal price for mounting. None of the aftermarket mounting BS. :thumbup: :thumbup: for goodyear tire. And once again FUCK KAL TIRE |

Kal Tire is a joke.
I took my truck in there to get new pads/rotors put on, They wanted to charge me $1200. $300 for each wheel ? lol?
So I laughed and drove away and bought all new rotors and pads for like $200 and got my buddy to install them.
Kal Tire is full of noobs and their prices suck balls |

| yah probably. Either way if someone on this forum gets work done there all i can say is i feel sorry for you. I honestly hope someone reads this that works there because it will let them get some insight on how shitty their pricing is. |
