1 of the Very very few 4 cylinder Turbo'd Stangs in the city - Click HERE for Original Thread

fugumerkur
and I got mine running today! may be on the road by this weekend.!

after the swap it fired up first try! Just needed a good boost and a new starter solonoid.!

~30oZ~
congrats:thumbup: which will be faster, the stang or merkur?

fugumerkur
its more a matter of whats going to be more reliable.!

the merkur (with a good turbo!) is faster, much lighter and higher horsepower.

The mustang has a smaller faster spooling turbo and a really well geared strong transmission. it will be alot better to drive in the city.
The merkur is going to get parked soon and get some really well needed treatment.
Full rust removal and a partial restoration. i dont' think it will see the roads again till next spring when I park it.

What kind of numbers will this be putting out?

Jamie

fugumerkur
I don't know. STock numbers are 200 hp and 240 torque, turbo hits full 15 psi at 2000rpm, car weights 3200 hundred lb's wet with driver.

Im gonna shoot for 300 with stuff like after market exhaust , larger intercooler, porting work and eventually megasquirt.

It will see an after market K member in the front with Solid engine mounts , the larger sway bars and stiffer springs and so on.
I want the mustang to stick to the road and handle more than I want it to go fast in a straight line.

Its going to stay at 200 for a bit while I get the merkur parked and worked on.

I drove around in a friends SVT when these were new. back in the day......... Nice/quick feeling cars.

You may be better off swapping turbos and megasquirting this bad boy first....... If you are only hitting 200 at 15 psi you don't have much more to gain at this point. It is probably running out of breath by 5K.

fugumerkur
Yeah. THe little IHI turbo loses it in the high end but will launch a heavy car quick.

No doubt the motor will be breathed on by a T3/T4 hopefully a 50 trim later on .

I can't go nuts though, I want to build the merkur up over the next year in the garage so I can have a nuts ass car for next summer.

No one will even recognize it next spring.

baker_jeff
That's totally badass.

fugumerkur
I think the first thing im gonna do is a donut.

Just cause it is a stang!

Fazda
lol donuts... mmm you just made me hungry.

Looks Sweet dude!

fugumerkur
Thanks for the positive support. I know its not an import and its really out of place on the forum, but its something different and out of the ordinary for the city streets.!

:D

kornsined
Nice. Sounds good too.

fugumerkur
So here it is, finally hitting the streets.

It is in need of new suspension , REALLY bad! But for how it is now it rides like a luxo barge.

Found a wicked deal on suspension and i'll be getting a 3/4 to 1 1/4 drop with stiffer springs , shocks and struts on it. Hopefully by the end of next month.

Prudz_lude
omg the coca cola can

fugumerkur
it fits perfectly around the windshield wiper motor, I figured the colour went well with the motor.

Car looks like crap, Coke tastes like crap.

~sanj~
u should washed ur engine bay before u dropped the motor in!!
other then that, thats prety sweet man

Grant
Is there any ducting, how does air get to that tiny intercooler? :dunno:

fugumerkur
I have the ducting for the Thunderbird turbo coupe hood and the plastic channel that fits under the hood. The only prob is I don't personally own a welder and its hard to get into my shop on the weekends due to the massive amounts of cars in the way!

I'll probably get a fibreglass hood later on, or just go FMIC when the cash is there.

~sanj~
fmic ftw

fugumerkur
Im hoping to get my hands on an SRT 4 intercooler. Wouldn't that be hilarious.!
