OK. First of all it dosnt matter how fast your going if you get a photo radar ticket. YOU wont go to jail or loose your licence. hell u cant even get demerits taken off. Photo radar is just a fine! thats it! i went to court this morning if u dont have insurance and ur caught driving(by a cop of course) its an automatic 6 month suspension and a 2800 fine. another guy was doing 115 in a 50zone. the prosecutor argued it was a busy area and around the time school begain and the judge issued that guy a $2000 ticket. as for myself i got fucked with a 1500 131 in a 60 zone. it was 5am on my way to work no one was around but fuck it:(
so anyway photo radar is just a ticket and u get a year to pay it off. you can also go to an agency and split the fine into community service hours or finance the tickets. |

| Just because they didn't do it to you or the other guy doesn't mean they can't do it period. |

| Last year I took my car out in the spring without renewing my registration first, and I got a photo radar ticket. I was surprised they didn't say a thing. They just sent me the ticket as if it was still registered.:dunno: |

Whats the conversion? How many $$ = how many hours of service?

| will i had the choice of 60 hours or a $400 "donation" to a charitable place, my charge wasn't traffic related but i'd think it would be close |

WTF? $6.60/hr.. Thats below minimum wage.. What an appealing option that is..
Maybe if they made it semi reasonable they'd have some staff to work on these pathetic roads.. |

not to mention they've supposidly been cleaning streets for close to two months... Id say 10% are clean not including back roads at all.. City is a joke
Its not just the pot holes though either.. Theres parts of the city.. Like 90%.. Thats like driving on mogels.. Just cause theres no physical hole thats acceptable? |

lol, i know it sucks about the "wage" they give you as an option but you also have to realize that you did something illegal in their eyes and YOU should be paying for it, i owned up and made a donation, felt it went further
and community service isn't pothole fillers, its like skating rink painters and garbage picker....uppers, along those lines.
i saw two dudes pickin weeds out of the cracks of the sidewalks downtown as community service |

| well ill prolly call those fight your photo radar ticket places like someone else mentioned for me $1500 is a lot to shell out just for a speeding ticket. id be doing community service for like 3 years to pay that off lol |
|
|
| dtjohnst |
It always amazes me the lengths people go to just to avoid having to slow down and not speed. It's a simple, free solution. No community service, no fines, no hiring lawyers, no days off work to go to court. And on top of it, when you hit these potholes y'all are bitching about, they won't do so much damage.
But no, much better to keep speeding and try to find ways around the fines. |

yea i know.. But it would make sense wouldn't it..
Offer a little better indecntive on the community service.. Put them to work on the roads.. Bam.. You solve your worker shortage.. |
|
|
| nismo_guy |
| good idea. but allow for placement after the community service. if they work hard then they can get a decent paying job fixing the pot holes. keep them out of trouble. |
|
|
| crazy240sx |
its funny too because the guys that are working all hours of the night to fix some of the potholes, are getting paid huge dollars
but i have to agree with dtjohnst i have yet to get a speeding ticket, or a photo radar ticket, and i still know enough not to haul ass around everywhere.. Sure everyone gets on their cars every once and while, and if you get caught, own up to it, its kind of an asshole thing to say, considering i would fight a ticket too, but i'd go say i'll plead guilty if you reduce the charges
even $700 is better than $1300 imo. |
|
|
| tho_chi |
| i would go to court and reduce the ticket anyway i could, it doesnt harm anything, and worst off you have to pay the original fine.. it never hurts to try |

lol, I actually think they may have a hard time to win a conviction if your vehicle isn't registered. The technicality with photo radar is that they get to issue the tickets without concern for who is driving... but they have to rely on the registered owner of the vehicle. I don't know if they can give a ticket if the vehicle isn't registered at the time... you can check with a lawyer or some other legal body to see if you can fight it! |

| i just got my first photoradar $110 for doing 67 in a 50 zone.. shitty thing is 67 doesn't feel like 67 in my car... if i don't pay close attention i'm usually always 20 over and don't notice.. my car rides nice :D maybe i shuld get a spedo mounted in my pillar |
