We at the Edmonton Z Car Club our hosting our annual Show n' Shine this year on Saturday, June 14th at Bonnie Doon Mall.
This show is open to all Nissan/Datsun/Infiniti owners. Participation in the past has usually exceeded ~ 60 cars.
Registration: opens at 10:30am.
Show: Noon to 4:00pm
East parking lot, facing 83st (by the Bank of Montreal, north of the Safeway).
Entrance Fee: $10 per car (half goes to charity, half goes to prizes)
Door prizes, a raffle, plus prizes/trophies for each show category:
Best of Show in:
1) 240Z/260Z/280Z
2) 280ZX
3) 300ZX (Z31)
4) 300ZX (Z32)
5) Non-Z (this is the SR20DE series, 240SX, Spec-Vs, 510s, etc. anything!)
and
6) Best of Show Overall (of the 5 above).
Get there early if you want the best chance at a good spot. We usually try to group cars by model type, where practical. Once you get beyond about Noon or so, I won't be able to guaruntee we'll still have space left.
As well as the usual onslaught of EZCC members at large, Reg Sumaru usually brings a nice assortment of cars every year, and the Calgary Z Club also brings a fair sized group as well (in particular I was told several 350Zs and Spec-Vs are coming up). Now we just need a strong NECC showing to top it all off!
PM me or email me at jason@edmontonzcarclub.com if you have any questions or require more details. Also, I'd appreciate a note from you if you are planning to attend (it helps when we're in the final planning for our space requirement).
Hope to see you there! :grouphug:

| I'll let you post that on here, but don't try to steal our glory. ;) My car better enter free. :D |

| whos gonna be the judge? |
|
|
| Inzane |
The judges are going to be under one of our club VPs, I think they'll be about 12 of them (volunteers and appointees) in total broken up into teams to judge the different groups.
Don't get too hung up on the judging/contest aspect of this show n' shine. If you're planning to attend, show up, pay your $10, have fun and meet lots of people, and don't fret about it. ;)
BTW, the judging system they use has elements/aspects borrowed from what's used down in the States for the National Z Conventions down there every year. |

Will they have different awards for catagories this year?
Like 300z class
Sentra class
240sx class
Just curious, it would be nice for a change for the classes to be awarded because we are putting alot of money and effort to make them look good. |

I don't know if they are going to be separating the classes that way. It is a Z car club, so the majority of the judging will be done on the Z cars. I'm sure there is a class for "non-Z car". But I doubt it would be appropriate for them to have awards for all the different non Z's. |

Not to raise a stink, but that is the problem right there. If someone inquires about starting up a seperate club ei: Sentra club, 240 club, Altima club, the feed back is always about that there's a Nissan Club and no one should branch out of that area.
I would personally like to enter a show where there are all styles of Nissans vehicles and have the opportunity to win something, as I'm sure many other readers would too.
If the Z Cars are going to be the only ones recognized, it gets a little boring to be put on the back burner with all the effort we've put into our cars. That is why I think there should be more catagories, you'll get alot more cars out.
It'll be a bigger event every year, if you disagree that's fine too but if you can answer my 2 paragraph please do. |

Sorry to disappoint you Curtis but the categories will be as I described above in my original post. There will be a "non-Z" category. Based on typical show participation, distribution/number wise the categories will be fair.
Last year I remember seeing maybe TWO sentras at our show. That's not enough to warrant a "Sentra" category. Hopefully there will be more this year.
In the past we haven't had a lot of non-Zs at the show, but I'm trying to encourage more participation. That's why I've openingly invited the NECC to join us this year.
BTW, don't confuse the two groups... there's no reason why the NECC won't continue to grow and eventually have its own Show n' Shines, with enough members to break down the car categories further. In the meantime, the EZCC is still what it is... primarily a 'Z' Club.
I'm a bit disappointed with your attitude, especially since you're a EZCC member and you've been to our shows before. You KNOW that in the past you've been stuck in the minority (240SX, Spec-V). That's not going to change until more people make the effort to come out, and word gets out. But don't expect the Edmonton Z Car Club to magically change into the Edmonton "Nissan" Car Club overnight, and I doubt it ever will. The Z Club will always remain the Z club, but with welcome arms to the other Nissan cars. In the meantime, the NECC will grow and develop. (and there's nothing stopping you from stepping up to the plate and volunteering to help the NECC to organize their first show n' shine).
Now, back to this show. Surely you're not afraid of a little competition with a few 240SXs, NXs, etc. are you? :D :P
Remember guys, come out and have fun. Don't get too hung up on the competitive aspects. You've seen what kind of UGLY comes out of the V8Less events. It'd be nice to avoid that kind of crap.

Just the usual bitchin' and complaining that people do when not all things go their way (yeah, I bitch too!)
The V8Less organizers work very hard at their events, but you can't make everyone happy. |

When I finished reading bono's post, I was gonna say pretty much the same thing Inzane did. The Z car club is the Z car club, and I'm sure they aren't gonna change either, just like Inzane said. There is a reason you are posting in a NECC forum, and put your name down on a list of members for the NECC. We are the NISSAN car club, which means ALL Nissans may join. The Z car club is just what it says, the Z car club.
Anyhow, yeah, the NECC is very small compared to other major clubs, but thats only because this is our first summer. The Z car club has been around for YEARS! I heard something like 12 or so, but don't quote me. Sooner or later the NECC will grow, we just need good support.
Take care all.

Jason, the last thing I'm firing is attitude about the z car club. I know I've been a member and I do appriciate the ability to participate in these events, even if I don't have a Z.
But maybe it's the frustration factor that there aren't that many Nissan shows in a year and that gets to me.
I just hope the NECC does grow quickly because I do see a huge potential for Edmonton, and I will give you all the support I can to make it happen.
Cheers, Curt

No worries!
BTW, you'll get yet another chance as we're supposedly doing another show this summer at Sherwood Nissan (the new dealership) in August. I don't have all the details on that one yet. |

| Jay, that sounds great about the Sh Pk car show, the dealership is actually quite nice and I for one really like the new silver nissan sign. I'll talk to you more on the 14th |
