Will a B16A fit into either a 1999 or a 2000 Honda Civic Hatchback?
About how much for swap and labour? |

| A B16A came factory installed in the 1999-2000 civic SIR so I couldnt see why not:dunno: Cost depends on where you take it, you can always do it yourself its fairly easy if you have a little know how. |

you can fijnd the sawp for as little as $2000
then you ned mounts, tach, harnes etc... so another $1000-1500 |

Sooo...
you think the engine will bolt right in or will there need to be some mods done??
i dont wanna spend too much on altering the car to make the engine fit.
just wanna clean bolt in. |

| i'm not trying to be a dick, but you should really search this one. this, or a similar "will a B series fit into a civic" question is asked every few weeks. yes, it will work. no, it won't bolt right in. |

| all you will need for mounts is the rear tranny bracket off an SIR 99-00 then you can use the rest of your stock mounts. |

Geez, if you get a complete swap from a 99-00 sir the only issue you will have is this. If you use the sir harness, you will have to run the 2nd o2 sensor wires, if you use your stock harness you will have to add vtec wires and knock, and extend your 02 sensor wires.
The mounts you need will come with the swap, as long as it's a 99-00sir.
I am guessing you could find a complete swap for around 2400$ and labor will cost around 800$ with fluids and what not.

Your drunk. Please know what you're talking about before you post and give out wrong information.
This is a COMPLETE DROP IN SWAP.
All you need to install a B16A2 is the rear tranny mount. You don't even need to worry about the 2nd O2 Sensor if you switch to an OBD1 ECU (This will help you tune, etc) Just get the complete SiR wiring harness and plug a Conversion harness (OBD2B - OBD1) into a chipped P28 ECU (OBD1)
Anyways, this is probably one of the most straight forward swaps out there. When I had a B16A2 in my Hatch, Jason_turbo and I had the swap done within 4-5 hours.

Just keep in mind that the 99-00 SiR came with the B16A2. Thats the motor thats a straight swap. It has 160HP
In Japan, There was 3 B16A's. They will all just say B16A on the block, but were different because of their OBD.
There was a OBD0, OBD1 and OBD2 B16A's. JDM OBD1 and OBD2's are rated at 170HP.

True, but these JDM motors do require a bit of modding for it to work in a 99-00 Civic.
Thats why I was saying the USDM B16A2 out of the 99-00 SiR is the easiest swap. The JDM counter part is a bit more work.

lol i'm not drunk, but perhaps i was a little unclear. when i said "it will fit" i was referring to the engine, of course it bolts in to the engine bay. but it's not a drop and go, you have to do some minor rewiring, new ecu, b series axles, b series shift linkage, i'm sure there is some other shit. thats what i meant by the "not bolting right in" part. |

I'm not trying to be a dick, but this swap is a drop in swap. it WILL "bolt right in"
Things that are needed like B series axles, Shift linkage, Wiring Harness and ECU should all be INCLUDED with a full B16A2 Swap.
So in fact, the B16A2 is a "bolt in swap" :)
