Same thing happened to my step-daughter last year. She was on her way home from work S.B. on 97st, She makes a right hand turn onto 127Ave on a red and she got flashed as well, the pictures she got in the mail with her ticket shows very clearly that she was making a right hand turn, she took it to the court and they still made her pay it. Totally unfair, there are no signs saying you cannot make a right onto 127Ave from 97st.
So I tell her to turn one block before the lights and dog-leg back onto 127ave... she doesn't and 6 months later gets yet another ticket, different car this time, same corner, pictures clearly show she was at almost a right angle to the camera as in the last set of pics. She goes to the courts, different person at the wicket this time, they drop the ticket and say sorry for the trouble.
So yeah, she has had 50-50 luck with these retarded tickets, I guess it depends on who you talk to down at the courts.
YMMV
Oh yeah!! NEVER turn right onto 127Ave WB from 97St!!! You might get you're picture taken....

| Did you guys stop for a full 3 seconds? |
|
|
| kouki240 |
| If he had a solid green turning light then he doesn't have to stop. |
|
|
| tho_chi |
| haha and not many people stop for a full 3 seconds either |
|
|
| stealth |
Thats right if it is green he doesn't.
and tho_chi.
It doesn't matter if many people do. It is the law.
Are you going to tell the cop, well not many people do it, so I shouldn't either. |
|

| tho_chi |
| I did not say i didn't i just made an observation saying many people don't.. |

Well here is the scoup on Photo Stop light Camera's
Your scenario facing red light with a green right hand arrow. These means you Must come to a stop before turning right. the green arrow does not change the fact that you are facing a red light and must stop. Right hand arrows are placed as a curtosy for some drivers indicating right hand turns are allowed.
Now here is how red light cameras work.
These is a sensor just underneath the cross walk. When the light turns red any vehicle travelling faster then 13 Km's an hour tigger the light to activate and take a picture. So keep your self Safe, stop as required and there's no chance of getting a right hand turn ticket when the light is red or hitting a pedestrian crossing the road.
The only circumstance when you do not have to stop facing a light on a right hand turn is when you hve a dedicated turn lane separated by a median or cross walk Island. And usually you have a yield or merge sign. |

I've never seen anybody stop on a green right hand arrow.. like at 66st and Ft. Road... All peds are stopps or have the "Wait symbol" and the only other people moving are a green left signal from ft road to 66st.
By your logic.. most green left hand advance lights would require you to stop before turning left.. bcause most time's they're coupled with the regular straight through lights. |

Nope, that's wrong. Do you stop when turning left and faced with a left turn arrow and a red light?

(4) When, at an intersection, a green arrow and a red light are shown at the same time by a traffic control signal, a person driving a vehicle that is approaching the intersection and facing the green arrow and red light
(a) may, without stopping, cautiously drive the vehicle into the intersection, and
(b) on entering the intersection shall make only the movement indicated by the green arrow,
but shall yield the right of way
(c) to any pedestrians that are lawfully within the intersection or within an adjacent crosswalk, and
(d) to any other vehicles that are lawfully within the intersection.

since people are talkin about stopping at a red light...
my buddy got nailed by these two cops who said he didn't stop long enuf at a red before he turned... but he says he did because he had to stop to read a sign... maybe they didn't watch him the whole time and only saw him go threw the turn...
so are you screwed in the game of you vs the cops in court? becuz "cops are never wrong?" |

Cops can be wrong. But 2 cops vs 1 kid with no witnesses is an uphill battle.
By the way, next time start your own thread instead of jacking someone elses. |

It's "martial" law, and it means the military is in charge, usually with orders to detain and/or shoot on sight. It's also been outlawed in Canada and will require ammendments to our Constitution to be able to declare it. |
|
|
| robyn402 |
| yea military is in charge but usually its just because the situation would be too much for law enforcement.. basically if it happens something is really fucked up...anyways gettin really off topic... so my buddy is screwed bascially right? |

How is that an improvement? My impression is you dislike or distrust police officers. You think they're "lying" and your buddy will pay the price but somehow feel under martial law this wouldn't occur.
let me tell you how this would work under martial law:
Soldier: Why are you outside your house? What are you doing? Where are you going?
You and your friend: Screw you jerkoff
Next thing you know you've been pistol whipped, hog-tied at gun-point, tossed into the back of truck, driven to fenced in yard in the middle of nowhere and tossed in there with another few hundred people and left there for months on end: no rights, no freedoms.
Yeah, that's MUCH better. Good call.
Martial Law also has been proven to solve absolutely nothing among a general population. It's only ever been used in times of extreme civil unrest, which is an indication the majority of people are unhappy with their government. As a democracy, the result shouldn't be the wholesale detention of the public until they accept the will of the government, it should be the abolishment of the system and establishment of a system that benefits the people. Which is why it has been outlawed in Canada and the constitution has been ammended to ensure it's never declared on our population.
And depending on whether the cops show up or not and what they have to say, he might get off, he might get a reduction, or he might pay the full fine.
It's the standard answer, but generic "I got a ticket what are my chances?" questions get the generic "there's no way to know" response. |

who doesn't have a small dislike for police... i won't go any further into that... and the only reason i made the martial law comment is cuz i'm in the military and i thought it to be kinda funny..
as far as my buddy situation goes, it kind of a pain in the ass when you try to hardest to follow the law and actually do stop for the light before and read a control sign then you turn and becuz the cop thinks he stop long enuf he gets fined... my opinion the cop just happened to look at him when he was rolling threw and didn't see him...
and it especially sucks when you basically can't fight something like that cuz who's going to belive us over them...
you really keep people on there toes eh, always gotta be prepared for a backlash for a post lol |

I used to be an MP, backlash doesn't bother me, neither does front lash. I'm used to it.
Did he really stop long enough though? You can read a sign while rolling, and a stop is supposed to be a full and complete 3 second stop.
The question I would ask is if the cops are bullshitting.....why? You don't think they have anything better to do with their night than make up fines? There's plenty of law-breakers out there without inventing them. |

| i don't think its a case of either stopping or not stoppping, but more a matter of being prepared to stop, say like going slower then 13kms or what ever. |
|
|
| robyn402 |
he says he stopped he was pretty pissed about it,
i doubt the cop is bullshitting.... like i said he probably wasn't watching him the whole time at the light probably just saw him go threw... but hey not my ticket... i make damn sure i stop for a bit then go just to avoid these situations lol |
