Q: Car alarm keeps going off... - Click HERE for Original Thread

the_fornicator
So for some odd reason my car alarm keeps going off. Did it last summer, didn't hear a peep out of it during the winter and I guess it started acting up again.

I doubt it's a loose connection cause I would have heard it at least once during the winter.

Any clues as to where one would start looking? 2000 civic (sir if it's of any consolation).

thanks in advance!

How's the strength of your battery?
And the quality of the battery connections? (any corrosion on your contacts?)
Does your system utilize a motion sensor? (make sure you don't have any loose metal objects close to it like coins, etc.)

It's not an ultra start by any chance is it?

the best alarm is to just take out your battery... who puts a battery in their back pocket...

this may sound weird but check the hood pin for water tracing,it happens when it rains, water runs down the hood pin making a connection setting off the alarm, try greasing the hoodpin,if you have no hood pin, start unhooking sensors one at a time, start with the impact sensor, and then door pins, finally trunk pin,if its all unhooked and still falses, probably a bad unit(cold solder on the main board,or a weak component on the board).
