| carfax or the registry i would pick number i dont trust carfax 100% cause its an american site. 20 bucks i believe at the registry |

| Go to the registry, don't use carfax. Carfax might tell you a couple things about the car like when/where it has been registered, but the registry should be able to tell you everything that has been recorded about that car, plus its cheaper than carfax. |

Will that tell me if the is a lien on a US car.
I just put a deposit on the car today. The guy said that there was no lien on the car & nothing same up on carfax.
If I go to the registry office (CAA)& I just bring the Vin#? |

Carproof is just a cross-Canada lien search. I don't even think the registry is able to lookup liens in the US (don't quote me on that though). If they can't your best bet would be contacting the DMV in the state that you're purchasing the vehicle in. |

if the seller of the vehicle has the title then there is no lien on the car.
The usa does it a little different then here in canada.
Title in hand means = lien free. |
