####, my heart is still beating....<p>I've been testing the realm of 13 to 15 PSI on my car today... I feel brave enough or so I thought...<p>So I  set to 13 psi and start to set the duty cycle, go for a run, turn up the duty, go for a run, turn up the duty, on my third run, I go WOT in 3rd to see how it handles... going, going...<BRRRRRTTTT!> it sounded like someone machinegunned the side of my car... no such luck... the car was misfiring badly, real bad... <p>Plus I hear a ticking... <tick><tick><tick><tick><tick>... uh-oh, reeeaaal bad, like detonation bad.<p>I didn't think to look behind me to check for smoke and I limp home (I know, I know, bad, bad thing to do, but I was in shock) The first thing that enters my mind: Engine rebuild. Second thing to enter my mind #### YOU JWT!!, Third: I (selfishly) thought of another project car (yeah right)...<p>I get home pop the hood, sounds like the ticking is coming from the right hand side cylinder (facing the car) idles like crap... It's loud... <tick><tick><tick><tick> NOOOOOOoooo...<p>I shut it off and lean on the bumper in frustration... thats when I saw it...<p>I noticed one of the spark plug wires had come off the distributor cap (for whatever reason) The ticking was coming from the arc on the unplugged distributor and it was misfiring because cylinder one wasn't getting any spark!...<p>I think I may have lost 10 years off my life tonight...<p>Moral: Before you tear the motor down, take a look around <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--><p>p.s. I retract the above statement about JWT <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo--><p>Well, thanks for reading...

Haha good story. Reminds me of one pass I made at Bud.  It was a clean run, but 14.3@93mph?!?  Crap I get 96mph when I misshift.<p>Then I noticed that my idle was all weird.  Which is odd because of my Programable Engine Management.  Couldn't figure it out so my day was done.  <p>All the way home from Bud I was freaking out about going through all my wires because at the time I thought it was a loose connection (that's 50 wires to test!)<p>Went home and posted on the forum, got about 10 responses even on a Friday night.  All with the same answer.  There's a nipple on the the back of the engine where the cap blew off.  Recapped it and she was as good as new - 10 second fix.  <p>Agreed, sit down, rest before jumping to conclusions - and tearing things apart!
