Kung fu vs wing chun vs jeet kune do....

After many weeks of research I have narrowed it down to those 3...I also took trial classes in wing chun but havent found any good kung fu schools yet.

Just want some experienced opinions on this matter....

What's your goals?

Competition? Self-defense? Fitness? Tricking?

From a self defence standpoint out of those choices I would choose JKD.

Kung Fu!

My goals are self-defence and physical fitness...mainly self defence:D

I'd go with JKD but I think there are less than a handful of jkd schools around.

vash1789
anyone know of any JKD schools?

ehrgeiz
I don't think there are any real JKD schools around.

I don't know why I'm always plugging them, but if you're looking for self-defense and fitness you might do well to look up Arashi-Do.

For the cost per month you can train Mui Thai, BJJ and have access to fighter conditioning training and a Shoot Wrestling class. I don't believe there is any weapons training though.

There's a lot of BS traditional martial art gyms around taught by hacks so be aware.

If your #1 goal is to have a shred of hope in protecting yourself or loves ones, drop all 3 and look into combatives - WWII combatives to be specific.

But of the 3 if that's all you have access to, JKD will give you a little base to work from. I'd add WWII combatives techniques on your own.

That + weight lifting is your best bet in protecting yourself.

EDIT: If you're in Edmonton I'd go straight to Calen Paine (?) at the Real Self Defense Center.

Good luck.
