Putting password on a folder - Click HERE for Original Thread

newtuner
Hey guys, I was just wondering how I could make a folder that is password protected. I'm sure there are programs online, but I was wondering if windows xp offers this feature? I just want to have a folder that only I can open up. Any feed back would be great thanks.

Do you have different users on the computer or does everybody login with the same username?

Also is it Pro or Home?

If pro you can set NTFS permissions so only your user account has access to it.

Otherwise you can zip it up and put a password on it..(Yes a little more of a pain in the ass)

I have xp pro. I only have the one user on my laptop, but a few of my friends jump on here to use the net. I just want to have some files private so I thought I would put a password on it. I'm guessing i can't really do Ntfs if there is only one account. Zip it? Do you mean compress it? Sorry I'm a little bit of a noob on this. lol

If you know someone in the States, get them to send you an IronKey and stick them on that. Military grade waterproofing and AES hardware encryption plus tamper and hack proofing in the form of a self-destructing crypto-chip.
