Call the 1-800 # I don't believe you need proof of purchase. I could be wrong but worth a try.

I'm sure theres geek forums out there with dudes who do all sorts of shit to their xbox's. Just search around on google, the lights are obviously showing for a reason and it probably means a certain type of a problem not just generally broken.

I'll keep an eye out.

Uh oh the red blinking lights of death. A term used by some people with this problem. For some it was just the lazer just needed to be replaced. Heard that was a common problem not sure if anyone else as had this problem.

Sucks for you. Microsoft just upgraded the warranty to 3 years from date of purchase.

That sounds retarded. I'd never try that. Overheat it to make it work? That's like saying to fix a car problem you should overfill some of your fluids. Best case nothing changes. Worst case you do more damage.

ya I got my 360 back from them like 1 month ago cause of the red lights
They gave me a brand new one, which is sweet
The only problem is that it takes long, but well worth it

actually the "towel trick" works pretty good with the xbox, but doesn't last long, brakes within hours or days again.

Sparxx if you are still having problems this is what you do, go to walmart buy just the basic xbox 360 take it home and swap out the console and your hard drive. Then put the broken xbox in the box and take it back the next day and say it doesn't work and that you just want to return it. I had the same problem you have about 2 months ago and this is what i did and everything works great!!
