Hey guyz,
Just wondering if any of u travel by car to disney land. Also how much did it cost on gas and how long it took. Or is it better to go by air. I was planning to take 4 people since i have a van. But if u took a plane and u want to shop around you gotta rent a car or taxi. Choice travel quoted me $390 with tax (westjet).
Please post your comments about disney land and if u have pics please post. |

We went by air to Disneyland. Cars are really cheap to rent in LA. We rented a minivan for dirt cheap, so everybody could really see LA as we drove around.
We went to Disneyland the week before the week of American Thanksgiving and Disneyland was (in Disney terms) pretty deserted. The earlier you go in the day, the less crowded it is.
Go to the AMA here and buy your passes for Disneyland. It's cheaper than buying them down there. And make sure you purchase the "FastPass" option. It's this thing that allows you to bypass about 3/4 of each lineup for most of the busy rides.
With the "Fastpass" you go up to the entrance to the ride, where these little machines (like little ATMs) are. You put your Fastpass in, and it gives you a slip of paper with a time on it (like "10:25-10:30"). At that time, you come back to the ride, and you get to go through the short line right at the front, instead of waiting with the hundreds of people in the regular line. It made it a lot more pleasant not having to stand around in lines all day. There's lots to see at Disneyland, and not a lot of time to do it.
I wouldn't go in July or August, if I were you. It's way to hot down there (for us northern climate type people) to be out in the sun all day. My brother-in-law took his kids in July. They did one day in the park and were all sick in the hotel room for the next 3 days with heat stroke. |

To be honest disney land sucks. Fly down to florida and go to disney world. X3 the amount of stuff to do, and the trains can take you to each of the 4 main parks and the 3 or 4 water parks. Universal studios is also there, it also has more stuff the cali and it's about a 20 min drive away from disney. If you were in cali it would take about 2 hours, freeways are gay there.
The fast pass is the best thing there, you can only have one line skip at a time but man is it worth it  |

That is the best idea I've heard in a long time, I remember standing in line as a kid to go on this one Star Wars ride for at least half an hour each time I wanted to ride it (it was still worth it though).
I personally liked Knotsberry Farm if you get the chance, it's a lot less congested. |

I would reccomend flying as well. And then stay in a hotel either in the park or right beside it and you basically won't even need a car. There are tons of tour busses you can take pretty much anywhere you would want to go.
My wife and I flew there a few years ago and stayed 6 days without a car, then rented a car, spent another day there and then drove to San Diego and stayed 4 days there with the car and flew back from there. Fun trip, I definitely recommend it.
But I wouldn't want to drive down unless I had enough time to do some site seeing on the way down. |

We've been to 4 of the Disney's around the world and here is how I'd rank them from best to worst.
#1 Disneyworld Florida
#2 Paris EuroDisney
#3 Tokyo Disney
#4 Hong Kong Disney
#5 Disneyland
Anaheim's the original one but also the dirtiest, with lots of gang-bangers, i.e. chola's, crips and bloods. Same with 6 Flags. Disneyworld in Florida is by far the best and most amazing! Hong Kong Disney is the easiest to access and the least crowded cause the local Asians don't get the 'disney' thing. It's only 4 subway stops from Hong Kong. Eurodisney is strange cause ppl are speaking about a dozen languages. I'd highly recommend you splurge and go to Disneyworld or Hong Kong Disney. Then you can hit the beaches in Florida or Thailand. Unless your poor skip Disneyland. LA freeways suck bigtime, it takes about 3 hours honest to get from one end of LA to the other. Take my advice, I was a "Grand Marshall" for the Disneyworld Parade 2 years ago when I was in Orlando!

yep l.a. is gheto for sure but i still had fun its so small compared to D.W. a hopper pass for a day in DL will cost you 85usd for an adult
in DW it costs you about 120 but the fireworks at epcot or magic kindom are amazing
If you go to orlando stay in the city of kissimee its 5 min from DW and 10 min from universal... universal is good too but let me warn you..... too much theme park make people go crazzey!
west jet goes to orlando cheep
hertz has mini vans for 50 a day
hotels are aprox 70-400 a day
or book the whole thing at ama they have disney get away packages... very cool place for sure...
just my 2 cents |

| We stayed in kissimee when we when to florida. It is in the middle of all the cool stuff. The farthest park from there is seaworld. |

I found Disneyland (in Nov 2005) to be beautiful and clean and didn't have any of the gang problems that you guys are talking about. It still took us 4 days to do Disneyland and California Adventure, so it's still pretty big.
Anaheim is in Orange County, which is south of Los Angeles County. LA County is where LAX airport is, and it's pretty grimy, with a lot of poorer neighbourhoods and gangs. Orange County, on the other hand, is a much higher-income demographic and is a lot cleaner and better kept. You really notice the difference travelling down the highway when you pass from LA into Orange. It's like somebody flipped a light switch.
A friend of mine who used to live and work in Orange County said the locals refer to the border of the 2 counties as the "Orange Curtain". |

if you go disney world trust me disney land is really small. my wife and i did almost most of the rides and we got there at 6pm its open till midnight.
disney world you need 2 days at each park...
magic kindom - 2 days same as DL but way bigger
epcot - 3 days , coolest rides ever "mission space" amazing firworks
anamal kindon - at least 2 days
mgm studios - 2 days as well
typhoon lagoon - best water park in the world
blizzard beach - molded after a melting ski hill very cool
sea world - 2 days
unevarsal studios -2-4 days 2 theme parks also different than disney but great rides.
dayton beach - sand as hard as concrete you take your car onto the sand and drive for miles
nasa space center - get lucky and catch a launch..... one of the most incredable things i have ever seen. nothing like 6 million horsepower tour is great two the sat5 moon rocket is jaw droping.
drive to the keys very cool...
also internatonal drive at night is cool too
ya Florada is sweet we go there almost ever year...... |
