hey there, i was in talking to the guy with the tbss, i have the same one. just was wondering if the wacky readings coming up in mine could be caused by a dirty MAF due to the new k&n filter kit? just trying to sort things out with westers as to my detonation problem. thanks.

Thats Martin. His username is AFI Performance on this site. Probably best to PM him.

Hey Man,

The oil from K&N oil filters will NOT ruin a MAF sensor. That is a topic straight destined for Myth busters. K&N is advising all customers with their filters to directly contact them for Legal support and backing against all auto manufacture warranty claims.

They have third party testing of multiple MAFs that were 100 percent submursed in their air filter oil with no subsequent ill effects.

You can Bath a K&N in oil and only loose performance due to air flow restriction.

Not to mention that your data logs show your MAF flow rate to be in the proper location. If a MAF has a coated eliment for some reason it will take more air flow to cool off the MAF sensor wire and thus indicate to the computer it is not getting as much airflow as it should. If this happened the computer would be looking in a different calculated load cell for air flow verus rpm and add too much timing causing the knock.

Stop by and I will take some logs to send to Westers for you.

Cheers,

Martin

LOL, that makes more sence. Swing by the shop and we can talk it out. We are building Corys supercharged stroker TBSS over the next couple of weeks, he already had a stall that will not suit us that you could probably save some bucks on. It is a Yank 3,200 with maybe a few thousand Kms on it. Super awesome and perfect converter for your application.

Cheers,

Martin

AFI Performance
Come by for sure. We are waiting on FLT to get the custom input/output shafts for the tranny, but if you are in the neighbourhood stock by.
