Now that mine is sold, it's ok to tell the secrets. ;)
1. Did you know you can spin up the tires when the second turbo comes on? If you're in a corner when this happens, watch out! One US owner spun out at 80 MPH in a corner from this. Only happens in healthy 3rd gens.
2. The oil for the turbos flows through a rather small tube. When the engine is cold, it doesn't flow well. This is why you want to warm up the engine before using much throttle. It's throttle opening that spins up the turbos, not engine RPM - lots of gas flow is needed. So drive like your foot is on an egg when the engine is cold.
3. You have almost no ground clearance. Enter driveways, parking lot entrances, etc at an angle. Avoid large objects on the road (don't try to drive over them). My car had 3.5" under the engine subframe (lowest part of car). Most "stock" 3rd gens will have about 4.25" (if there are any stock ones left - either the front springs have sagged by now or been changed).
4. You have the most beautiful car made so far (and I miss her already :( ). Take care of her. Use Zaino to polish. See zaino.ca for details.
5. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Believe it or not, your car is faster than you will be when you "get old". Which is why I sold mine. I couldn't react fast enough to keep up! Those of you who do not own one, and have never owned one, do not know what a car can be capable of! You drive down the street knowing the other cars (mobile chicanes) are mere mortals, and if it were not for traffic laws, you would be blowing by them all. Just keep in mind they will not see you in time, they will pull out in front of you. They will stop for no reason in the world.
"Be careful out there". |
