What is a good way to deal with DOMS? Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Any tips to deal with DOMS?

Right now I'm just trying to keep active on my off days so the circulation helps speed up recovery.

Was super sore yesterday from a big workout the day before but did a bunch of tennis and feel great today.

Are you getting the "proper" amount of sleep? I know that the "proper" amount of sleep is going to be different person to person, and supposedly the need for sleep lessens as you age... But personally, I'm a big fan of anything between 9-10 hours. You're not like, runnin' on 6 or something, are you?

the 3 best things for muscle soreness and recovery I found while in the army is.....

1. Banana's
- Potassium helps get rid of lactic acid....

2. MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane)
- Pretty much the miracle herbal pill. I've had nights when I couldnt even walk up the stairs because of how sore I was, and after taking it, the next morning I fealt 100%.

3. Swimming.
- Nothing strenuous, just do light swimming for about 20min's a day that you arnt working out.

I swim a lot, but I'm going to have to try to eat more banana's and maybe look into the MSM.

I take a serving of Glutamine free form Amino Acid before and after my work outs and it seems to help quite a bit.

K yeah I've had a few days where my sleep's been off.
I'll start with the simple stuff first, bananas, light exercise, and extra sleep.

Glutamine will be next on the list should I need more.

Thanks guys :)

Your first step should be a good stretching routine and as Workinprogress mentioned sleep.

I wouldn't be too concerned with supplementing. A post workout drink with a good whey isloate mixed with dextrose is best. You can also use gatorade instead of dextrose, but it's not optimal. Possibly a greens supplement, but they're expensive and whole foods is always better.

Your diet outside of supplements will also play a large role. Are you eating enough? And are your eating enough of the right stuff? Everyone's needs are different, but generally if your not eating 5-6 times/day and drinking water throughout you're doing your body a disservice. Nutrition is a huge topic and way outside the scope of this post, but I can honestly say some of the biggest benefits I've seen in my training and recovery have come from a recent decision to massivley up my vegitable intake. Something to think about anyway.

Another idea you may wish to try is contrast hyrotherapy. Now there is no real scientific proof to say this method is effective, but it seems to be very popular and as we know sports fitness and nutrition is way understudied.

When I was at the point of overtraining I decided to give it a shot and found that it was a beneficial and almost immediate remedy for some soarness.

Post workout or during the onset of DOMS, take a cold bath for 15 mins then alterante to a warm bath for 15 mins.

Kiddo
2 scoops of nitric oxide right before a good nights rest like 8 hours

You'd wanna take something with the Dbol. From what I read its pretty weak on its own, and causes some insane water retention. However, nothing a lil Tamoxifen cant handle.

STiPWR
yeah, probably go with a dbol/deca/winstrol stack.

Winstrol is a cutting steroid... not a bulking one like the other 2.
