so can ets cops or campus cops search u.??
heres an example
years ago when the lrt was free in downtown i took it from a downtown station to university, got caught by ets cop, he asked me for id i told him i have none even though i had a backpack with my wallet and everything in it, i gave him a fake name and address etc and he wrote me a ticket and i threw it in the garbage once i was outta his sight,
could he have legally searched my bag.??? |

So...what else did you have in the bag that you needed a fake name for lol
I would think a campus cop would have the authority if you're on campus grounds. Some one else needs to chime in. |

| I'm not going to add anything here to help this dirt bag out. jwkbbp seems to know how to break the law with no troubles already. |

they can not. I worked at the U of A hospital as a constant and i was trained just like a security guard. Needless to say they have no speacial rights. They are extactly the same as every citizen. The most they can do is put you under citizens arrest.
It pisses me off that they think they can do more. Alot of the people seems to have the mentality that they could because they were security guards. |

That might not be true Prudz_lude. U of A Campus Security is different than ETS security. Just like the Alberta Sheriffs have the Judicature Act that allows them power for both search and seizure within a courthouse and the power to permit entry to anyone who will not surrender what a Sherrif deems a "weapon".
EST security has powers that even police officers don't have on ETS property. For instance, they are able to issue tickets for swearing.
As well, powers of search should apply to all peace officers who are acting upon incidents of lawful arrest for officer safety reasons. |

Security guard is not the same as UofA security or as ETS police. Check the peace officer act. |

ETS security is responsible for all of the walkways and pedways that connect to the transit stations and there are cameras throughout.
An ETS security Peace Officer has the same level of authority as a police officer, as long as they are within their jurisdiction. |
