Illegal. If you weren't more details, try the search. This has been asked multiple times.

Also the clear lenses are illegal too.. cause to date there is no color bulbs, other than the NAK (amber) bulbs that have been tested to meet SAE spec. So if you have clear lenses and your brake lights need to be red... without putting an illegal bulb in how would you have red brake lights?

I hope you're not asking this question because you want to do this...

My answer, without even looking it up, would be an automatic "F#$k NO!". (no as in not legal, not allowed, and not intelligent.)

what about things like chrome domes? Chrome coated amber bulbs?

SilverNeonRacer
That's touchy.. You can get Silver star markers that look blueish when off, but Amber when on.. I think those are legal.. the titianiums or what not.. might depend on who makes them.. make sure they have sae or dot markings on the package or the bulb

thanks for all your replies on this subject you guys are very knowledgable and by the sound of it, very caring about other members and not wanting them to get into trouble.

i put chrome covered ambers in the front , which have clear corners and chrome covered amber in the rear turn signals of my euro lights its all legal and it looks awesome

SilverNeonRacer
I've btdt.. it's no fun having a cranky cop make you take out bulbs at 2am in -40 degree on the side of the highway....
