the_fornicator
don't know of any all you can eat places, but shogun (downtown on jasper and 121st) and furosato (whyte) are the better ones that I've been to. The mikados are OK.

I'd be curious to find an all you can eat one as well.

edmrx7
I've heard that there is a all-you-can-eat sushi bar on the west end, somewhere around stony plain road and between 170 and 178st?

I don't know the name though... :-(

i just read in the SUN about Shogun and they rated it 4 out of 5

There used to be an all you can eat Japanese chain called Osaka but they have since changed owners/names.

I believe the last one is by Whyte ave, on Calgary Tr. and aprox. 80Ave (right by the big Shoppers Drug Mart)

There used to be one where edmrx7 mentioned but they've changed names/owners.
Roughly 176St & Stony Plain (the commercial complex that faces the backside of Superstore, just west of that Wolfie's place or whatever it's called)

I would recommend the following:
-Wasabi (North of Southgate, where the Shell & PetroCan gas stations are)
-Kyoto (109St & 87Ave or 109St & Jasper Ave)
-Furosato on Whyte & approx. 101St
-Yokozuna (106St & just south of Whitemud, behind the Rona and the Whitemud Crossing complex)

None of which are all you can eat though.

Theres Zen on 101st and 105ave that has all you can eat.

Kiddo
yep zen is all you can eat every day after 6pm... only problem no all you can eat beef tataki :(

Orzel_pl
I really enjoyed my visit at KOBE on the west end.

BananaBoy
The "all you can eat" place in the west end, can't remember the name, is beside the New Asian Village (east indian) on 95th ave just behinde the Rona and it's not very good.

Off topic but New Asian Village has a lunch buffet that is veryy good.

Orzel_pl: Where is Kobe?

CanuckDave
I went to Kyoto on 109th and 87th last week and it was pretty good, I don't know of anywhere in the city off hand that has all you can eat.

Theres a good place in a mall in Calgary called Sumo or something, with all you can eat.. good stuff, but its 300kms away lol

went to Zen tonight it is all-you-can-eat starting at 5pm, and OMG the sushi is great, awsome menu selection, very friendly service, great atmosphere.

they even have a sushi bar. The fish was really fresh, felt like it melted in my mouth, theirs so much stuff i wanted to try on the menu, but couldn't fit anything else in my tummy

i highly recommend Zen's to a sushi lover with a big apatite.

Kobe Japanese Bistro
Rates: $15 to $25 — This west end sushi house has a celebrated chef in its kitchen. Victor Noborio worked on the Champs Elysées before working at the Japanese consulate in Edmonton.
Address: #516, 6655-178 St. Edmonton AB
1 780 444-7878

I really do reccomend it. We had a dinner party of about 15 people and everything was fantastic. Wide variety of everything. Delicious eel and sushimi especially.

dance_of_curse

GQsmooth
Tokyo Express FTW

Kiddo

Which japanese restaurants have you gone to that doesn't have a sushi bar?

Anyways, I just can't do all you can eat sushi anymore. Just seems so brutal after going to vancouver so many times and having their selection and quality.

Amen, once you've had a taste of what the sushi is like on the coast and the service and the selection (etc.) It's tough to stomach anything else...

I TOTALLY thought of this yesterday when I met someone who said the exact same thing.

"I get my sushi from Tokyo Express"
 "PWAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAAHA"

"Why are you laughing at me? What's wrong with Tokyo Express?"
 "Oh um...nothing, it's a great place to introduce yourself to sushi" *snicker*

Fuji Palace Japanese Restaurant - 780-496-9838
17503 100 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T5S 2B8
Category : Restaurants

i have been there twice for all you can eat which is 19$ i think. it is ok, but nothing great. If you are really hungry its good. I also second Kobe and Shogun. Great places in our city

chewy
furasato is decent, as is wasabi in southside

Kiddo
is fuji palace all you can eat all day?

T-Funk
tokyo express isnt bad compared to most fast food places

any crap sushi at tokyo express is better than a cheeseburger or pizza

tokyo express is just on par with what you could make at home

it ain't all day. it starts at 5PM.

i went there yesterday with te GF, well first off the restaurant was very cold (turn off your AC people when it's in the mid 10's), some food portions were very small, the service was very, very slow, and the price was alright @ $23,99.

the food wasn't as fresh as it should be, they also ran out of certain selection within 2 hrs after opening.

Zen's is WAY better then this place

Hijacker
what other place have all-you-can-eat Sushi, other the Zen and fuji palace

Maybe what you can make at home. If you have some skills in the kitchen you can blow any resturant out of the water.

I haven't been to the Honshu for a while, but what food I have eaten there or taken out has been very good. For non-sushi people the tempura was decent as well. That would be on King Street, just off the second set of lights westbound through Spruce Grove.

I get a kick out of all the sushi snobs that come out of the woodwork...go back to SoCal...:blue:

if that comment was directed at me its ironic because i'm flying to LA first thing tomorrow.

Buddyworm
Koto Japanese Restaraunt in St. Albert. Hands down best Sushi place in town. Bigger servings of Sashimi than Mikado and the Udon noodles are friggin unreal. The owner Tadashi-san works wonders with raw fish and cold rice.

Not really, I just find it funny how we become snobs over the simplest things, like raw fish. Running down sushi at places like Tokyo Express is like running down the roat beef at Arby's...it's food court food, people...

dance_of_curse
