Sweet bike man! Looks really nice.
I want to get back into mountain biking myself. Anyone know of good areas for single tracks?

I have rode a bit of single track in the valley by the science park on 17th street.
I picked up a specialized rock hopper this spring and have been getting out a fair bit. I am heading to Canmore and then on to Inveremere at the end of august. |

How much did that run you? I'm looking at a Rocky Mountain Element 50 or a Vertex 70.
One thing I'm not liking about bike shopping is that none of the stores have prices on their websites. Hell, it seems most of the manufactures don't have MSRPs on their sites.
I miss the good old days when Dad owned a shop, and everything was free. |

I hit this one jump and I totally got three feet of air!!!!
LOL it's a pretty sweet ride. The front and rear shocks are adjustable. You can lock out the rear with a flick of a switch so it basically becomes a hardtail. That way you don't lose a lot of your pedaling power in the bounce of the rear. Also the fronts have 3 settings. When you climb, the travel of the shock reduces a bit (1cm I think) so you aren;t climbing over the bars as much. Then theres the normal setting, and you can extend them as well by 1cm I think for going downhill. You can also lock the fronts stiff as well, for climbing.
nice and light, under 30lbs probably about 27lbs. hydraulic brakes, 27 gears, etc etc. And it matches my shades!

Just hitting some trails around town. Went up a couple cutlines, coming down was sweet. I'm going to be riding with the club on wednesdays, and then the BIG DOGS on thursdays. THOSE GUYS are insane, so I'll have some lusty tales of adventure after that, plus a few scars I imagine! :)
Run with the big dogs, or stay on the porch!

Wow, sounds like it has a lot of really useful features! I love hard tails for single track, but being able to "lock out" the rear suspension would be prefect. Having the best of both worlds!
Where do you live? Hinton?

| Jesus, 27 pounds? I'm of the era where the hot FS bike was the Proflex 957. I think it was around 21.5# fitted full xtr. I suppose that all of the modern conveniences offest the five or six pounds though. I still have a spot of roadie blood in me though, so those five pounds to me seem like a ton in my head. |

This is a full suspension bike though. You can still get FS bikes that are in the low 20's.

I've got a 24 speed nakurama(sp?) full suspension, so the does the wife, I hate her bike... it's like the pedals are behind the seat.
I used to go mountain biking in Banff... I always took shitty bikes cause then i didn't care what happened to them.. I used to get air all the time, once I came down so hard i bent the handle bars and oval'd the front rim.... ahh those were the days... not a care in the world...
I think I've gotten to big for my bike though.. I hop on and the tires look flat... even though they're at 40psi |
