| i recently bought a vehicle from a used car dealership and when i purchased it and the inspection paper came out the salesperson dated the paper on the spot when the vehicle had not even been inspected at that dealership. when i decided to check into this a little more i thought i would take a trip to check out this so called mechanic shop that was written on the insurance inspection sheet. when i got to the address i discovered it was a motel just outside the city. im wondering if the mechanic can do inspections wherever he feels like or if it has to be in a designated shop. |

It's tied to the mechanic's license or what not...
I've had a mechanic friend safety my car.. one was in a hotel parking lot, and one was in my drive way..
A "shop" is easier as they have all the proper tools and hoists... I think there is a company that will does on site inspections, they'll come to you with a van or panel van. |

Safety inspections can be done anywhere I'm sure...
But for OOP's and OOC's the shop itself needs to be certified, also the mechanic..
This is so they insure everything was tested properly, alignment machines etc. |

you can do a safety inspection anywhere that will allow you to properly evaluate the condition of the vehicle as it is tied to your ticket, though the mechanic should have listed the shop adress as a contact.
I would wonder if it is legit.....:dunno: |

| It just seems sketchy considering the inspection paper was dated at the dealership not when it was inspected who knows when it was really inspected |
