mkiv supra - Click HERE for Original Thread

Im finishing up my 11 sec eclipse build. However, because the mkiv supras become legal in April 08, I plan on parting it and selling it in the spring to purchase a supra (if the 25 year rule isnt happening). I just had a few questions. Just like when I got my dsm, I basically want to get this car in my garage and immedietly strip it down to a shell and rebuild it. Am I allowed to do this or do I have to get the car properly running/safetied and inspected first? The last quote you guys gave in a thread over a year ago was from $15k for a TT, 6-speed 3.0+ condition. Is this price the same or have they depreciated further? Is buying a car a few months before its legal save a few bucks? Thanks alot for the help
Cheers

When you import a car from Japan, there is no time limit to how long you have to take to register or inspect the car. Our drift car has been in the country nearly two years without any registries knowing about it.

If anything recent exchange rates would have improved last year's quotes by around 10%. It's easy to say how much they cost now, but once they become eligible we might see increases in their prices in Japan due to demand. I'm amazed at how many people tell me they're going to get a JDM Supra.

Nah. I have a strong feeling that when the R33 is legal, everyone is going to want it instead.

now that the early build mk4 can come in what have the prices done? can you still pick one up for 15-18,000 for a 2jz twin turbo? auto or manual either is fine by me.

Auto's are cheaper than $15,000-18,000, but that range seems about right for average condition 6 speed twin turbos.

we'll see what my new job ends up bringing home each pay see when I can get some cash together then I'll get in contact for an actual quote for one that is BPU
