| They are pretty cheap south of the border. |
|

| Flamewerkz |
| I'd do it. Well, spend 50k on a car, maybe not a Viper, but they are kinda cool. |
|
|
| anschutz_93 |
| a viper would be a better choice than most to spend 50k on but it would only be worth it if you have the coin to throw down upon purchase if you have to get a loan it probably isnt the greatest idea. a viper would sell for much more up here probably 15k atleast (this is just a guess) so you could drive it for a year then flip it for a bit of a profit over your total costs for the car. i know a guy who does this with corvettes and recently new gt500's, they bring up a mid 90's corvette which they purchased in arizona for ~10k bring it up here get it through inspection and sell it for 20k. personally i would go for an earlier model viper you dont see many around and they are probably dirt cheap in the states. anyway go for it... 50k is still only 5k a cylinder... no different than spending 20k on a civic  |

| Dont take this the wrong way cause its not ment as an insult. Can you handle this car? I have talked to some people who have driven the car and the said that it was just too much power to handle on the street for them as they admitted that they had trouble driving it without killing tires on it and trying to keep it strait. Some people dont have the nessasary skill for it. It would be a shame to see you buy the car and "deposit" it into the wall on whitemudd. Like I said, the question wasnt ment to be insulting, Im just asking. |

The people talking like that are lameasses who aren't really car enthusiasts. I got a ride in a Viper GTS from a guy around here, with a 540" stroker and a Novi2000 making north of 850 RWHP, and running on 19" wheels/tires he had no problems stopping from smacking into walls :dunno: |

how reliable are vipers.???
75k miles is alotta miles but if a viper is reliable then thats a really good deal |
|

| I say go for it. If you sell it in a year, you can probably get away with driving it for little or no money. |

it's a viper man.. how hard can that decision be?
just get it |

The only thing on the early vipers is that the interiors look like shit otherwise a really fast car for the money.

I have kicked around the idea of one as well......my only thing is I have a hard enough time parking my WRX anywhere so it would be 1000X worse with a viper. So it would be the kind of car to go for a cruise in the take home and park before you go out anywhere to stop.
If you can do it.....go for it....they are a blast to drive |

Everyone + their dog has a Vette. You only live once, if you can afford it, and you want it, BUY IT!
That's the point of money isn't it? What's going to give you more joy, 50,000 in your bank account or a Viper in your garage? |

I tired it for awhile, I have to agree with you. Not my favorite past-time.
As for the Viper... don't even ask if you should get it, you should be asking, "Why would I question this? Am I dumb? I must be..." or something.
Who cares about the standard:
Repairs
Rough Ride
That everyone complains about! It looks perfect, goes like stink, and .... vette? haha vettes are as annoying as Porsches.

Viper is still my dream car. I couldn't care less what people have to say about it, how "bad" it handles, etc. Imo its the BEST supercar in the world....hands down. Nothing can compare to it when you factor in performance, price* and looks.
As some of you might know, this is my next car. I'm just deciding if I want to wait and save a bit more for a SRT-10...or get a 2nd Gen RT/10.
Either way...its a bad ass car.
*obviously I would rather have a Ferrari F430, but when looking at the price difference, I would take the Viper.

That's the thing, it's my dream car too. Wanted a '95 RT/10... for 12 years now! Every day. If I got a point for wanting it every day, I'd almost have 4500 points! That's nearly enough to have Dodge just GIVE me one.
The newew ones are nice, as they're more powerful and still side exhaust etc... there was a beautiful black SRT at Derrick a few months ago, one of the very very few black hard tops around.
The old Vipers on the road are still a wet dream. '08s FTW.. fuck off z06

Haha at least the paint on my jetta is nicer, the interior better put together, and the tire wear, not as bad!
I wasn't saying that porsches sucked, or that my car was better.. I'd love to have a nice Porsche GT or somethin, but because of their price range... it seems the ONLY REASON people buy them now is to prove they have money. not because they like nice cars. therefore, it's a connection to "annoyance" and to even reply with, "yeah would rather have a jetta" means all you want to do is start shit, and I'm sorry that you're that kinda guy.
Back on topic, Viper FTW... even more so than the fantastic and beautiful peace of German engineering we all know as Porsche! :drama: |

i think thats a great deal but here are 2 reasons why you shouldnt get one
1. you'd prob get a ton of tickets since itd be hard to drive a 500 hp car the speed limit
2. its edmonton man, the second you park that thing some 5' tall women in her ford f350 who cant see over the steering wheel will park on your left and a minivan with 20 kids in it will park on your right, and you will come back to some nice fresh dents |

1. You can spend it on your basement and stuff to go in your basement increasing the value of your house.
2. You could put more go fast parts on the 240 and have enough left over to get a new Exploder (or maybe a 269 horsepower Rav4 with a warranty)
3. You could buy the xbox wireless adapter so you could finally connect to xbox live.....a-hole |

From what I gather, you're a young guy who's recently married. Which probably means that you'll be "settling down" soon enough and focusing more on spending your money towards kids, vacations, living situation, etc....
If you want your Viper, and you think it'll make you happy, you might as well get one now because there may not be another chance.
What's the worst that can happen? In 5 years you'll have to sell it and lose $5000-10,000 in depreciation? That's not really that bad at all....
Wait a minute, I think I'm slowly talking myself into that Aston Martin that I've had my eye on. I think I better shut up now. |
