I like my Wii,
The PS3 and Xbox have better graphics,
BUT the wii is super fun to play, and loads of games. Great multi player fun, especially when you've had a few drinks .. |

Wii sports drunk is fucking awsome. Had a few nights devoted to that
I got the wii for playability not for the graphics.
As for a 360 or ps3, I would get a 360. Just more games I like on it, but GT5 looks very tempting. |

Not if you get Resident Evil 4 or Manhunt 2.

well I don't know about you, but I hate sending things away and then waiting weeks go get it back I rather use the store's extended warranty and get a new one right away. Besides the Xbox 3 year warranty is only for Red Ring of Death and doesn't cover anything else. |

lol ps3 has the same games except pgr4 and halo 3, xbox live cost money and is laggy because you pay to play on your own connection (P2P) psn is free and the games use dedicated servers that is why games like resistance support 40 player online without any lag ps3 has sold 5 million because it came out one year after xbox 360 and is selling better with competition than xbox did one year ago without any competition. Think about the upcomming games that are exclusive to the ps3... MGS4, Uncharted, Rachet and Clank, Gran Turismo, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Final Fantasy 13 etc.. more than just first person shooters...
11.6Million Xbox 360 have been "shipped" not sold, times that 30% failure rate... well do the math
If you decide to buy an xbox wait till tomorrow MS announced a $100 price drop in Canada |

Launch dates are aligned. There isn't much difference in sales. I know that the 360 numbers are "shipped", but I don't see any electronics stores that are stockpiling 360's.
The only game that PS3 has that I'll miss is the Final Fantasy series, but after playing the Blue Dragon demo, I'll get over it. The MSG series is sketchy on whether or not it will remain an exclusive, and with Forza 2 being such a strong game, I really don't miss the GT series too much.
As for lag online? I've seen very little lag. What lag that is there, is usually because some retard doesn't know how ts set up his router. 8 player races on Forza are always very smooth, better than when I play Live for Speed online.
I was really hoping to play GTA IV this fall, but apparantly there are platform-related problems with the PS3, and it is going to delay it's release on the 360 as well.
I used to be a huge PS fanboy, but I think they really fucked it up with this one.
About the warranty, it's not only for the rings, they just extended the general warranty, which covers all manufacturing defects. My parents 360 went, and from the time that they called MS to the time the unit was returned (on MS'es dollar, they courier a prepaid box to you) it was less than 10 business days.
Also, who releases hardware that doesn't stack in an A/V unit? I love my 360 because it FITS. |

| Don't forget xbox launched world wide in nov or dec ps3 launched world wide in march it was available for xmas only in NA and Japan. As for GTA IV lol so I am guessing you work for rockstar because they haven't said the reason for the delay one month ago they said ps3 was 2 weeks behind and now it's delayed for almost a year because they were 2 weeks behind? I don't think so, but they did mention that they couldn't fit the game on the DVD9 inside the xbox, and 8 players online no lag wow... try 40 on ps3. The 3 year warranty is for RROD ONLY check with Microsoft, everything else is 1 year warranty. And how is the MGS sketchy? did you watch E3 this year, Kojima himself at the MGS4 presentation said it is PS3 only and he will not make it for any other console, but I konw xbox fanboys keep saying it might come even though MS even admitted they tried to get it but couldn't make a deal |

The PS3 launched when it did because it (Sony trademark) WASN'T READY for a holiday release.
From here about GTA IV, on AUGUST 3rd, 2007:
"According to statements made by Michael Pachter on Gamasutra, 'The Rockstar team had difficulty in building an exceptionally complicated game for the PS3, and failed to recognize how far away from completion the game truly was until recently.' The article goes on to describe an agreement between Rockstar and Sony not to favor the 360 by releasing their version first, necessitating the delay on the 360 as well. Pachter's comments are interesting, because all Take-Two has been willing to say is that 'technological issues' were causing the hold-up. "
The red-ring of death means a general hardware failure, which covers pretty much everything dealing with manufacturing. It's explained here.
Q: What are you rolling out that is new?
A: While we maintain our one-year console warranty (two years in some countries), Microsoft is extending the terms of its Xbox 360 warranty to three years for certain general hardware failures which are indicated by three flashing red lights on the console. This will apply to new and existing customers and we will retroactively pay back the out-of-warranty repair costs paid by customers for console problems indicated by the three flashing red lights.
If Sony can have 40 player online Gran Turismo races with no lag, then kudos to them. I'll pick up a PS3 the day that GT5 comes out.
About the MGS series, Konami says that they will not release it for the 360 right now, but game developers and publishers have to look at who is playing what system. PS3 numbers are in line with 360 numbers based on age, but if that ever slows, there has to be a decision made on what game goes to what platform. A lot of the PS3s success hinges on three or four franchises that haven't even published a game on the console. If Konami or Square decide to release MGS or FF cross-platform, the larger 360 user base will become a huge advantage for MS.
When Bioshock comes out in a few weeks, it's going to hurt Sony huge to not have a port. Every pre-release review that I have read puts this game in Half-Life territory.
I don't hate Sony, but I am disappointed in the direction that they have gone.
I think the only truly huge winner this generation was Nintendo. I have barely touched my PSP since I bought a DS. |

Actually what Rockstar said (read on their website) is that it has been delayed for technical reasons... that is it, what you read is a twisted xbox fanboy version of it, search the internet there are 2 versions of the story either the hard programming for the cell or that they can't fit it on the DVD but rockstar hasn't officialy said anything and that is why you shouldn't always belive everything you read, especially Michael Pachter, google his name |

Yes......and how does it connect to that dedicated server if not through your connection? That was my point. There isn't some magical Sony component that bypasses your network, your router, your modem, the shaw/telus network and routers, and the internets. You still have to go through all the same stuff to get out. |

do you know the difference between P2P and Dedicated? xbox live is P2P where you host the game on your own connection, you are the server, that is why I am saying you are paying to play on your own connection (in case you didn't know you have to pay to play online on the xbox), psn uses dedicated servers where you connect to a server. PSN is free and lag free, LIVE cost money and has plenty of lag that is my point... anyway we went off topic, depends on what you want, if you are just a gamer and don't favor a system just get an xbox it's cheaper and has a lot more games out because it has been out longer, if you like the sony exclusives get a ps3 many great games coming within the next couple months, if money doesn't matter I would say get a ps3 has more value, better build hardware, blu ray, HDMI 1.3, bluetooth, mem adapters, wireless internet all build in, don't have to buy anything extra. just get the systems your friends have so you can play with them, all my friends have ps3 one had an xbox till it broke 3rd time, he traded it for a ps3 and he was much happier |

Do you? dtjohnst just told you that 99% of lag online isn't caused because Sonys servers are slow, but the other 5-20 jumps across various networks and hardware can be slow. |

| Now you can get the 360 premium for $399.99 and elite for $499.99 and ps3 still for 60gb $549.99 which soon will be discontinued and the 80gb for $659.99. Also you don't get the hdmi cable as you do in the premium and the hdmi that you get in the elite. Your almost looking at $50 or more extra for the ps3 |

Alright... Well, I own a PS3. I love and yet... People think the Xbox 360 is better. According to people, gaming developers and other critics. Xbox 360 is above in all categories vs. the PS3. This includes: Price, performance, visual quality, game selection and online support. However... If you really think about it, Game selection is something that will come in time. PS3 games are one of a kind. Visual Quality... Rigghhhtt, to me the PS3 has Blue-ray DVD Capacity, which already puts in the top. It's like comparing a VHS to a DVD, big difference if you think about it. Price... Sure it's a little bit over priced... compared to computers however. What kind of other gaming consol can access the internet, hookup keyboards, mouse, has a flash drive, oh yeah and a 60g harddrive.
This could go on forever, in short context. PS3 OWNS THE F$#% OUT OF Microsoft and it's Xbox 360, sad... but it's true. Whatever money you save up buying the Xbox 360 probably around 100$ or 150$ you will make up paying to play online, which in the PS3 you get FREE. Among other things the PS3 has yet to take off after some major games come out and take advantage of various unique aspects of the PS3. My advice... Not guaranteed though,
is get a PS3, It will pay off in the future, oh yeah... not to mention a Blue-ray DVD player costs around... 400-600 bucks? Well consider your PS3 one if you don't like the games.
I don't regret buying a PS3 it'll pay off soon in the future,
GTA IV, FF14, among other sweeet a$$ games coming out. |

Yeah, sure... its "worth it" in time to get a PS3.
Well too bad! I want to spend my money on things I can enjoy now! This is not an investment to be waited upon for some sort of great payout. The point of buying a video game system is to waste time and have fun! If you buy it, and are WAITING to actually use it, then you've just wasted your money!
Sure, the PS3 is a superior console hardware wise (Blu-ray included, HDMI, WiFi, etc) but those aren't qualities which make a console more "fun"... its a nice perk though. If you want to have something more fun, now? Get a damn Xbox 360 already or even a Wii. Plenty of games and although you have to pay for online... THERE ARE ACTUALLY PEOPLE PLAYING ONLINE!
Oh..... and yeah, I'll be picking up a PS3 eventually as well. haha. I'm just waiting till its "worth it". |

my bro and i are buying the elite and in my opinion its a better deal then the ps3. cheaper price for more gb (120 to 60) and a whole bunch of other stuff i have no idea about cause i am not a tech know it all. plus the ps3 is huge (the fan alone is about half the console) and when i played a friends i noticed it was louder then the 360s. (that doesnt really matter though when you have the volume pumped up). Wii is an amazing party game when you have a bunch of friends over but i think that is all its really good for |

Let's analyze this.
Xbox 360 Elite: 499.00
Funny, I'm yet to see a store here selling it that cheap. But let's roll with it.
Base: 499.00
Wireless Receiver: 20.00
Charge + Play Kit: 20.00
Rechargeable Battery: 12.00
Alright, price difference solved.
Next up:
Live: Pay for it, lag not uncommon.
PSN: Free son.
Backwards compatability:
360: present, but choppy as shit and still needing update for some games. Upscaling is garbage / non-existant
PS3: I couldn't really ask for better backwards compatability. Internal memory card blocks FTW. Backwards compatability is pretty important if you ask me.
Xbox 360 has had more hardware problems than any console in history. I went through 4 until I got one that worked. I don't know many people who have had less than 2. The power supply is also huge, annoying, and gets too hot.
I won't even touch on how the PS3 is a greatly better multimedia networking tool and forget the fact it has the card reader and all.
I guess to the 360's credit it gets spoiled with good game releases and has nice visualizations in the media player!!!
I owned a 360 for a year and switched to a PS3. Pending better games come out I'm pretty happy with my choice. The only thing I like the 360 for more is that controller for racing games and the Forza franchise.
If you want to jump on this let's also discuss things like the Six Axis controller, "always on" and seamless pairing with the PSP.
P.S - the PS3 is 499.00 from most places like Best Buy / Circuit City |
