As all who saw my car last night, it's covered in bugs.
Car wash didn't get them all....
Should I just claybar the remnants? Or something else? |

FYI. a clay bar removes a very small amount of your clear coat every time you do it.
if you go to canadian tire, they have wash mits. grab a microfiber one. it wont scratch your clearcoat and with some elbow grease, your car will be clean. |

I spray it with degreaser, let is sit for 5min or so while i vaccum out the inside...
Then soap.... like an inch away.... probably not the best for the paint.. but it works.
I find if you keep up with getting the bugs off, like as soon as you get back from a road trip.. the sooner the better. |

| Turtle wax bug and tar remover works well too. |

| you have to let the bugs soak for a while. at the car wash i soak the front of the car, and then wash the rest of the car first. |

to get rid of this mess \/ i just took the car to the wand wash and with a mitt and pressure water washed and rubbed it all off. not sure if its good for the paint but once i get the money my front bumper is gettting redone anyways.

That's a completly rediculous statement as it's NOT true. I worked in a detail bay and a body shop for 6 years....a clay bar will NEVER remove "small amounts of clear coat" unless you rub a bar across your paint with no lube.
If that were even remotely true everytime you clay bared your paint you would have massive dull spots. That's what using the lube is for,
Man I wish people would stop making stuff up.
Anyways, you can use a bug & tar remover with a wet microfiber cloth, that's typically what we used to do and it worked wonders. |

i went to sylvan and back last weekend plus an extra 5 hours of highway driving and my car was covered.
Didn't have time to clean it when i got home so i left it, and it broke.
Finally fixed it a week later and was able to clean it. Dad showed me some bug stuff he uses for his motorhome. worked fairly well but i still had to go to hughes and use the degreaser and soap method. All is good now. |
