i dont know much about audio... what is the point where you need 2 batteries?
i'll have a 4-channel Clarion amp running 4 type-r componants and a mono Clarion amp running a Premier shallow sub, you think i'll need 2 batteries? |

| definetly no point in getting another battery. if anything get a power capsule.. lol but u probably dont even need that yet. unless u are running a battery from a scooter or something. |

Caps only offer a temp solution to power issues.. if your stereo is pounding you have to charge the cap too. Cap's are good for DB drags where you burp it.. let it sit for a second, burp again.... give the cap time to charge.
Or if your playing music with a steady beat, that gives the cap time to charge in between hits, it'll work for that to.
A second batt helps if you have a low output alt and a small primary battery.
When I had my neon with an 86A alt and a 450ca batt, having a second 1000ca batt in the trunk did wonders, minimized light flashing, stopped my batt from dieing. I was tuning for a DB drag, had the rear batt disconnected to stay in street A 1-2, and I killed the factory batt in 4 minutes... with the car idling. But I'm pushing bout 1500W, and pulling over 150A.. hit 14.28db in that car and a half dead batt(engine off)
So it really depends on the output of you amps, and how often you run them loud.. In my current car, I rarely crank it so a 850cca redtop under the hood works well. |

| I would just get a nice underhood battery, I have a 70 amp alternator, and a redtop, and never had any dimming issues pushing 1200watts |

| I would upgrade the alternator FAR before upgrading to a second battery. |

If you can get a better alt.. when I was running the Neon, I couldn't gt a better alt.. not for anything less than $500.
But yeah.. steps would be.
1. Make sure your primary battery is good, or upgrade it to a nice optima, red or yellow top.
2. Upgrade your alt.
3. Add a second battery.. or a battcap - you can actually start a car off one of those. |
