Brunch suggestions? - Click HERE for Original Thread

masterv
I'm planning on taking the gf out for brunch this weekend. Can anyone suggest a place that has really good food? I've had Sawmill and Thorton Court at the Mariott so I'm wondering if there's a place that we should be trying. :dunno:

Socrates in St Albert has great food. Its on the trail by Kal Tire. :)

If you want a real 'authentic' brunch experience, there is a FANTASTIC little place called "The Whistling Kettle Café" on 50th street, it's owned by a little old chinese couple... The food is FANTASTIC and the prices are really decent. Don't expect it to be some fancy resteraunt style place neither.

Coast Terrace Inn on gateway/calgary trail has an amazing weekend brunch. you'll need to book reservations though.

I always found coast terrace too loud. The sounds just keeps reverberating off the walls on the indoor courtyard. I know thats kind of a poor thing to call it on, but its important for me not to yell while having a conversation. Otherwise, not a bad place. My parents do enjoy it there.

If you got the cash and want to impress, I found Hotel Macdonald to be consistent. The Empire Ballroom is quite the setting and they always have plenty of servers on hand. it is about $45 per person though. And that doesn't include parking for downtown.

Another vote for the the Mac. Wonderful brunch and the ballroom is incredibly nice. You can also try La Ronde at the Chateau Lacombe downtown.Almost the same price as the Mac, the food isn't as good but the view is great.

Sutton place hotel downtown on 101st. Nice Brunch buffet with custom omelettes.

Hotel MacDonald... just call ahead and make sure they're not booked up for the day.

It's awesome, and the Mac is a great atmosphere.

McDonalds egg mcmuffin with those maxi-pad looking hasbrown patties :D Cant get much fancier than that (I know I would be impressed!) - oh, and add some ketchup on them hashbrowns, gives a little more realism to the moment

almost screams romantic, no?

the Royal Executive Inn has some amazing brunch. its a buffet style brunch, but the food is emmaculate! fresh everything. they have crab, ribs, roast beef and all sorts of fresh fruit. its really good and something like 13$ a person, well worth it though.

178st and stony plain rd.
