| From the moment we make the arrangement assuming the car is already bought, it's usually 4-6 weeks to Vancouver. Customs clearance and transportation to Calgary is an additional 3-4 weeks. |

Alright, thanks.
I'm still a little bit worried though that if I buy a car and it gets here that it may cost significantly more than $1000 to pass oop. Is there anyway you can make sure I wont be spending and arm and a leg to get it to pass? I want to know how much money I'm going to have to pay for the car before I decide to buy/pay, so I don't get in too deep. |

It's impossible to predict what the OOP mechanic is going to say needs to be fixed. You could have the car inspected in Japan and then find out that the Alberta mechanic is more strict on issues the previous mechanic wasn't strict on. This inconsistency alone is enough to make me shy from estimating repair bills.
What kind of car are you looking at? |

I think I have narrowed it down to either a silvia k's or a skyline gts-t type m. I still havent completely decided yet. |

Skyline's are somewhat unpredictable as to inspection costs due to HICAS, it's been my experience that the rear tie rod ends almost always need to be replaced. The lower mileage and least modified examples will have the best chances of being well maintained.
For Silvia's, your best bet is to stick with non-HICAS versions for the same reasons as the Skyline's.
Both cars have non-DOT head lamps, which may or may not cause a problem. Technically you need to replace them with DOT head lamps, but most mechanics ignore that requirement. You also need to budget for daytime running lights and rear side markers. |

How much do tie rod ends usually end up costing to replace on skylines or silvias?
Are there any non Hicas versions of the skyline gts-t? |

The only non-HICAS are non-turbo examples of Skylines.
I think Skyline tie rod ends are around $60-90 for the part, shops might charge you .5-1 hour per tie rod end. |
