What kind of laptop? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Answermid
Ok well soon enough I am going to buy a laptop and I have no clue as to which one will benefit me to my needs. Things I would want and like in my laptop are fast downloading, good memory, good sound and graphic cards, bulit in webcam, good battery life, and looks good and more lol. I would like to buy one for around $1600 and I know it will be hard to find like that, but that's why I'm starting early to search for one.

Actually almost all new, decent laptops can do what you want. The only thing is a built in webcam...not too many have those, so that will limit your options.

I would highly recommend the new Apple MacBook. Great laptop! Check them out at www.apple.ca

I second the Apples. Unless you want to play games, then it sucks.

Some people have good luck with Acers.. spec wise they tend to be good, and tend to be lower price too, but I've used bout 6 diff acer models in the past year, and all 6 had me wanting to throw them out the window....

I hate Acer. If I had to buy another Windows laptop, I think I'd go HP or Sony. My Toshiba served me well except for the 1 time I had to call them and their service sucked. Both carry laptops with built-in webcams and all the other features the OP wants too. But both cost a premium.

Another vote for the Macbook. If you've got an extra $1000 or so, go for the Macbook Pro.

I have the mac book pro, and I love it
Mac FTW. About the gaming of macs, a lot of games are in both formats.

I agree, my current laptop is a HP and its great. Although I did run into the common power jack issue, I got that fixed and everything is great now.

It still amazes me, I bought this laptop like 2 years ago and its still one of the best spec wise out there. It came with a 100 Gig HD, DVD Burner, gig of Ram, 256mb video card, etc, etc.

But my next computer will be a Mac. I miss them a lot and wish I never sold mine.

I used to work for HP, I like their products, I'd have an HP laptop right now if they had one with the options I wanted, when I bought.

I have a Dell 9300 spec'd to an XPS of the same year.. I should be getting a new LCD and a new keyboard tomorrow(complete care) LCD is really dim, and a speaker fell on the keyboard.

But it's been really good, paid $3100 for a $3600 laptop through work and it's still better than most laptops on the market today(spec wise).

The wife just got a $4000 XPS 1710 through my work for $3300... it seems really good too, the ctrl key broke right away, but we'll allow them that minor oops.

Im personally a fan of Asus laptops but really any laptop can do the job (as said) I recently bought a new laptop from www.ncix.com (newegg for Canada) and their site is awesome you can find links to 3rd party reviews and read posted comments from people who have actully bought the laptop your considering.

And thats not even an issue anymore with the Macbook's. Just install Bootcamp or Parallel's and you've got both OS'es.

Mac OS is a bit different than windows, but even first timers pick it up very quick. Once you get used to it, you realize it works way more flawlessly than any Windows OS and is better looking imo.

i got a Toshiba satellite and like it so far, gaming is not the best, but that can be built on l8r.

thin(bout an inch), dvd-r drive, 137 gig of space, big screen(17inch) works well for what i plan on using it for(movies net and games)
