rhd, or lhd, dosen't matter, you can not import any car that is newer that 15 years old. |

I've heard that if you can prove that the vehicle came from Canada (has a CMVSS sticker on it), that it can be returned to Canada despite the year. The same can apparently be done with cars made for the US market that are located in Japan, however I've also heard of people having trouble bringing these to Canada. For US cars, you'd also have to make sure that they are eligible for the RIV program (riv.ca).
As of yet, we have not attempted to import any newer cars. Because we mainly import auction vehicles, there is not enough time during auction situations to research whether or not the vehicle came from Canada or the US. |
