NZR: Why is that when it rains, it has to f***ing pour? - Click HERE for Original Thread

So I got a call today from Maranello Auto Refinishing. Very good group of guys again. They informed me that they pulled the car into the shop today and noticed that the front bumper is badly damaged. I was taken aback and quite surprised. I went over there this afternoon to find the damage below. Turns out, that the tow truck that dropped the car off did some nice damage to the front bumper and the splash shield underneath.

And to add more fuel to the fire, the appraiser missed all the suspension damage and the damage in the trunk from the impact. The appraiser is supposedly going over to Maranello tomorrow to have a look. Good thing I took pictures after the collision! Maranello asked me to e-mail it to them as proof of the suspension damage and proof that the bumper was fine.

What a disaster! The worst part is, I don't know if they are going to write it off now or not, especially considering that Maranello already ordered and received the parts that can't be returned, for which the insurance company would be on the hook for.

Before I get somebody posting that this thread is useless without pictures, here they are:

Thanks for listening to my rant and allowing me to vent.

Oh man.... :(

That appraiser is clearly an idiot.

Also, this is why TOWING is my worst nightmare.

Thank God it wasn't on the Z. I'd almost want to remove the front fascia if I had to have it towed.

Flatbed, or NOTHING!

MixManMash
Good point.

Good choice in putting on Honda OEM parts on your car. At least you know Honda parts won't break when towed. :P

Lol. I noticed that and was just waiting for somebody to comment on it. It just so happens that there is a honda right in front of my car.

That really sucks. I hope you nail the tow truck drivers ass to the wall.

if you wouldnt mind posting the towing company? I had a big problem with someone at H Towing in sherwood park...

Ruined a muffler and further damaged my front bumper.. and this was flat decked..

MixManMash
I am not sure what towing company it was. Apparently, the salvage yard where my insurance company had the vehicle towed to is responsible for the damage and are covering all costs associated with the damage to the front. I guess they must have been moving vehicles around the yard and that's when they damaged it.

Inzane
So any update on the car's progress? Have they actually started yet, or are they waiting for more parts now?

MixManMash
They have proceeded on with the repairs. They are waiting for some suspension parts now.

Mmm... time for an upgrade? :D

KYBs? Sways? ....

MixManMash
More like hard parts like a lower trailing arm.

I have a set of Tokico HPs and Racing Beat Springs (off of the MazdaSpeed Protege) sitting on my garage floor waiting to go onto the car.

Unfortunately, KYB doesn't make AGX adjustables for the Protege. Their regular GR-2's fair poorly based on various reviews on many Protege Forums.

I do want to get some sways eventually, but lets see how the car turns out before I put more money into it. Probably either go MazdaSpeed, AWR or Progress for those.

Inzane
Nice!

Hopefully the car drives straight when they're finished with it.

MixManMash
I hope so to. The first test is going to be an auto-cross at Race City. If she tracks straight at 160 km/h, I'm happy.

Is there enough room on the south end of the track for your Protege to get up to 160 km/h? :p

MixManMash
With the rear seat out, and some other things out, maybe. lol.

I guess, there is only one way to find out.

I had the Z32 up to 200 km/h on the south end of the track.

That blows man!
Incompetence abounds!
At least it looks like everything is coming together on it anyways.
Is it just me, or are people getting dumber!?

I have had both Z32's towed but by flatbed only. In fact both times the driver had to use boards to make sure the front fascia didn't end up scraping the pavement...and my cars aren't even lowered at all. A towing job that would normally have taken 5 minutes with any other car took around 15 with the Z's. The price we pay...
