We Need A New Meeting Place - Click HERE for Original Thread

chowder
Ever since Soda Jerks closed. We haven't had a place to hang out together on thursday. I thought Buger Baron would be a nice place to start having more get togethers. How about it?

The mushroom bugers are a blast. Trust me.

WookeysRX7
whats the address of the Burger Baron?

West would be nice too

mrprecidia
thats why a central location is best so it's fair for everyone.

redbaron303
Central... sounds like that parking lot on kingsway by for the aviation museum could come in handy...!?

REFLUX
so central it is :)

west would be goot too....whitemud does wonders :D

REDX2NV
noo west way to far out...bps is good just off a cruise from whyte ave..

SplineZ
What are you guys lookin for in a "place"? Im sure there is a place around the west end or southside that has a HUGE parking lot and easy accessability..

James Z

BlueTurboEGG
I'm for someplace around the Muni...

Xx D-MAN xX
What's with all the south side meeting spots?

Z3r03rr0r
central is always a good idea, has anyone thought that there is a huge parking lot infront of the ikea that just closed down because they moved to the new location

SilverZ24
^ I was just going to say that. :)

There is also lots of traffic around there so a lot of potential new members might see everyone hanging out and pull into the parking lot to check it out. :)

Z3r03rr0r
I am so Smart, smrt

Transporter
i say we go for muni kingsway is 3 lanes :D

and it is a bit off central

PunkA$$
hawrelak park?

redbaron303
I wonder if they'd let us use the old ikea parkin lot>>>?!

mrprecidia
I think the aviation parking lot would be best.

SlowAzzPorsche911T
how's about my block, turn on the barby, throw on some steaks, get the kegs out and every fri would be a block party

Z3r03rr0r
Only prob there is the rest of us want ot get our rides home in one piece, so no drinking and driving.

SplineZ
are you guys getting kicked out of the BP parking lot? cuz you could use the one across the street ;) its better lit..

Stupidstore parking lot on 170th? Revy Parking lot? the General hostpital parking lot on jasper ave? south commons has alot of parking areas, but its quite far away.. I think that mall security would be on everybody if a mall parking lot was used..

James Z

V6Less
and i live right next to soda jerks :tear:

ALIAS81
central meeting place would be good. How about the brewsters parking lot area. not so much by brewsters but a lil farther west in that parking lot. around the bubbles car wash area.

I was thinking of the buger baron on 101 Ave and 75th street. But seeing that people don't want to go there. hmm. BP is more of a friday saturday thing. Lets do something on the southside then. We need a location where its high traffic, can get grubs, and has lots of parking space for us. hmm. Would be nice if there were still drive in fast food joints. Burger Baron is the only one that comes to mind.

;)

I get lots of free drink tickets from there since I work next door. :)

I actually agree with Chowder, I think burger baron on 75th would be good. The mushroom burgers are the best and there is quite a bit of room to park. :)

Seks
Burger Baron is not exactly on a high-traffic, visible street/road though...

And if I recall, the parking lot of that joint is on the west side of the building, which you can't see the parking lot from 75 st...

SRBURG13
I like Chris's idea of the old Ikea parking lot. Well lit, definately lots of space, and very central. Although I'm not too sure what the police will think of that, or the owners of the land. I think a good 'ol college try is needed. ;)

redbaron303
psssssst - it wasn't my idea....

BUT

IT could work... :)

SplineZ
not sure if there is much for grub around there... (old ikea).. the place looks nice tho..

109th and jasper ave, that parking lot just south... its large, well lit, couple food places around, and very high traffic.. dunno how busy it is on fri-sat tho..

the General hostpital parking lot on jasper ave?

not a good idea either......bylaw love to ticket in there!!!!! I know :(

S

Perilous_Enterprises
This probly won't be well recieved, but Sherwood Park has a few good locations (or so I think)..

The parking lot between Staples and Home Depot is HUGE (on Baseline road, getting to be quite busy now), plus theres Average Joe's sports bar (great burgers) in there, a DQ accross the street by superstore. Then Galaxy Cinima's in the mall has a big parking lot, Taco Bell on Baseline by Saveon... basicly anywhere on Baseline in the park is busy, and has ample parking...

But I doubt most of you would want to travel to the park.. just an idea tho.. ;)

Bob

MightyMidget
yep your right bob.......not well received :P ...it seems kinds far.....

another one that is a great spot that will probably not be wel received is the old Parade square at the old army base (griesbach)....its friggin huge and has a very very flat and well paved lot!!!

as well it was my idea just so you know

greisbah come on schlong you said ikea was practically out of the city you're talking of going to like 200 ave

just a thought we have a lot of guys from the park that make their way into the city we could give them a break and meet them out there once in a while there is a ton of places out there. And for the other times we can meet at the bps or the ikea parking lot

200th ave.....you must ba on crack too......it only goes as far as 153 av......down to 137av......which is not that far from the YHT for the PARK guys.....it was just a suggestion........cause like I said TONS AND TONS of room......

S

REFLUX
I'm cool with going to the Park

Someplace between Edmonton & the Park on Baseline
that's only like a 10 minute drive from downtown Edmonton anyways

Z3r03rr0r
there is also the parking lot in front of where canadian tire was on 50th street by capilano mall. not perfectly flat but it is big and empty

chowder
Going to the old Canadian tire isn't a great place to go. Its won't get us noticed that well. Every thursday there is a hot rod meet at the Petro Canada at Fort Road and 137th Ave. We should pick a place where we'll get noticed with high traffic. Someone brought up the idea of the Aviation Museum. How about that? Else we choose a nice southside location like esso next to futureshop on the southside between gateway blvd and calgary trail.

REFLUX
if you want exposure...the old Ikea prbly is the best

everyone going to hit calgary trail north, those going south and those going east off whitemud..........DAMN!!!!

and that location is only north of some restaurants & south of whyte ave

lightning
How about the Oliver Square parking lot on 104Ave,116Street.

chowder
Oliver square. Sounds good. Right by the quizno's. hmmm

That was mentioned before.. right by where they park the bubbles bettle :)

lots of exposure, lots of light.. lots of traffic... I think it'd be right up there with the old ikea.. and Jasper & 109th ave.. where that ugly art is.. Its only a block or 2 away from your guys current place of BP's on jasper..

Its too bad there are no large parking lots on whyte ave besides that "Value Village" one.. and im sure everybody would love to park there :)

James Z

Z3r03rr0r
we could always take over the parking lot at the Standard
boy would that screw somebody up

" Hey boss the parking lot is full but there is nobody in the club"

what night are we looking at anyways

REFLUX
I believe Chowder mentioned thursdays
cuz thursdays used to be sport compact night @ Soda Jerk's

& there's stuff to do & places to go on fri/sat

I'm cool with oliver square

central!!!!!

WookeysRX7
I like the old IKEA idea... Its a very visible easily accesable area.

I'm with the Ikea idea... :stupid:

SRBURG13
Ok guys, we've finally gotten on to something.

Two places "I" think should be hung out at:

1) OLD IKEA: Awesome accessability, and food all around.

2) The empty space on Jasper, between the Bubbles car wash and Kelsey's restraunt. I'm not sure if this was the place you were talking about, but that corner of the lot is great. Very large (or at least large enough for us) and easy to access and central.

PEACE

ChromeDragon
What would be wrong with the Aerospace museum? It's very central, easy to find, high traffic road going by for lots of exposure.....plus there's the cool plane to take pics with! hehe

I personally think that this would work great, although it doesn't really matter to me where we go, everywhere is a long drive for me.

Chromey

colossus
Old Ikea no wocky, no lights on there now! :(

109th st, and jasper ave...

The parking lot there.. right beside the club "Globe" (i think thats what its called)

lightning
The problem with the parking lot on 109st and Jasper ave beside The Globe is it's hotel and Funky Pickle Parking it's always half full.

The Oliver Square (104ave 116st) parking lot is never full and lots of resturants near by.

So when's the next meet??????????????? :dunno:

redbaron303
And where will it be...?! The usual BP's on Friday/Saturday, or a new spot on a new day to boot...?!

chowder
Hey guys. Lets get this going. Lets get this sports compact meet done for this upcoming thursday. Where do you guys want to meet? It doesn't really matter to me.

redbaron303
Aviatoin parking lot is barracaded as of last night.... june 14th... :( So next option unless it opens up again this week and becomes an option.

ChromeDragon
Well I drove by that Museum and the parking lot looks pretty good, lotsa light, few picnic tables, tons of space. Only thing that we have to make sure is that everyone uses the garbage cans, we don't want to get booted out for some moron littering.

Chromey

ChromeDragon
Barricaded? There are fences around it, but the driveway was open Chris.

Plus there is also some sort of event there today, not sure if it's an airshow or whatever, but it could be blocked off just for that.

Chromey

SplineZ
I think there is some sorta air show happening this weekend... something for fathers day..

James Z

TheNeonEdge
Ive found a perfect place to meet, The mayfield in has a trade center overflow parking lot, behind crazy horse on the west end. They are just doing some construction of light posts now, but by friday or saturday it should be finished, its a big parking lot, and no1 around that will call hte cops for all being there. Its all commercial.

Any comments on this?

I parked there for fragapalooza but I think most of the members here want a visible space to get noticed and while it is big and nice and all it is quite hidden.

heh I showed up for a bit to visit some friends.. it was too hot and stinky to play anything.. man a room fulla unshowered geeks, hundreds of computers, 30c outside and no AC is horrible.. :)

James Z

RezaREX
There was AC man the nights were so frickin cold!!!!!!! During the day it was killer though. I played some Unreal Tournament, I went the year before too but since the first one I kinda changed my priority from 1.Gaming 2.School 3.Food to 1.Car 2.Getting laid 3.Food. Gaming fell out of the top ten. Plus now that I play professional foosball I have no time. (you heard correctly I said foosball)

Let's try it out this week then!

chowder
Lets do it this thursday. 7:30 PM at the old Ikea. If this is the plan. I'm gonna be a little late. I have a meeting I have to goto. Maybe I'll make it on the southside.

Pro Drag
BP's in Mayfield Common has a HUGE parking lot.

Sounds good... keep us informed for thursday...

and Blaine... too far west for some people...

DeathRat
So is a Central Meeting place ever been resolved yet????? :fingersx:

drastik
I don't know if it's possib;e - but what about the grant Mac parking lot? right across from food...no big speed bumps ... I don't know about lighting though :/

What would be nice is if we could talk to one of these places and have a rep or something sign some sort of waiver that there is no respondsibility on the owners part.. but we are allowed to be there. That way we can't get hassled as much.

The air museum would be really great... as long as there is lighting and we could get that kind of permission. as would grant mac.

Another possibility is the parking lot of united cycle ... just off whyte. there isn't huge amounts of room... but it's decent. again - i'm not sure about lighting.

chowder
The lighting is horrible at night at the grant mac parking lot. But there is lots of parking space.

chowder

We can always change it every 2 weeks. It would be nice to have a place to go on thursday for a sports compact meet. Those are fun and you get to meet people. Plus, sometimes we go out for a cruise down whyte ave. Those are always fun.

DeathRat
The reason for asking is I just wish to meet some others of this great Forum! :P Even though I drive a Pontiac Bonneville, it does have a V6, and I wish to get some more ideas for moding it up too. B)

sunfiregt
I think the old Ikea has really big speed bumps so if your car is lowered you could have problems. I like the spot though. What about JB's on 170th. Its a pretty big parking lot? I am sure they would love to have us there.

DeathRat
If you guys are still looking for a place, I might be able to get the lot at the PartSource on Fort Road (@ 129 Ave). It's huge! I used to work there too. ;)

ChromeDragon
I honestly think that we should give the Museum a try, like I said before, lots of lights, cool locale for hanging out, picnic tables, parking space for at least 120 cars, central location, a really kick ass place to take pics of your car(with the plane and downtown lights in the shot).

What do you guys say?

Chromey

BlueTurboEGG
I'm for the mueseum too...

Has anyoen checked this place out too?, I'm sure I could work out something with the owner.

Lighting isn't the greatest either, but ample paved parking.
