Still seems kinda shitty for Nitro.. You might be maxing out the source though..
Onm my newsgroups, which is where i do all my downloading.. I average 1150kbps on Shaw Extreme.
Price difference to nitro doesn't really seem worth it.. But your not paying.. So who cares.. :thumbup: |

Yeah thats horrible for nitro... this is what I got from a better site..
Download Speed: 8870 kbps (1108.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 827 kbps (103.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Which is about 10 times faster then from cnet... and its basically what I should be getting from extreme... they rate it at 10mbps but realistically you wont get 10,000 ever... so almost 9000 is pretter damn good.

1300ish equates to a download speed of substantially less.. thats like slower then Telus ADSL... which is rated at 1.5MBPS (about 1500kbps)

Turns out my signal is too high?
So possible blown amp. Kevin is coming over tomorrow to sort me out, and shaw isnt charging me for internet till its fixed. |

Well I had Kevin look at my connection today.... Tried everything, tested my router, my modem, my cat5, all the connections inside and out.
Nothing seems to be wrong, no faults on the modem.
Kevin suspects there is some sort of interferance that he cant read on his little computer tester.
I guess the Shaw tech supervisor will be coming to my house in the near future. |

Seems Shaw doesnt know there head from there ass right now. My internet went down to my building this morning too. They tell me they'll have a tech out tommorow afternoon..

I made an appt to have them come out to my place today to fix my latency issues.. Were on extreme and were getting less than DSL speeds, The house has been rewired by Shaw already except the outside line, which they said they would come back and replace SIX FUCKING MONTHS AGO!!!! :mad: :mad: :mad:
I've almost given up on computer gaming due to horrific pings.
I managed to get the to credit our account for the last six months weve been paying for extreme :thumbup:
If they don't fix this BS We'll be moving to telus and buying a satellite.
I think the problem is that Shaw just does not have the bandwidth they need to push VOIP, 4 different Internet packages, Analog TV signal AND all their Digital cable shit. |

Had the shaw "tech" guy here today.
he sat down at my kitchen computer, installed some fucking iTunes package for Firefox (like who the fuck told you to install that?!?!) played with his phone, did a speed test and said nothing is wrong...
Uhm.. He was sposed to be here to replace the fucking main cable on the OUTSIDE of the house..

me, getting ready to throw the guy out - I booked an appointment to have that replaced 6 months ago due to connection loss in wind/rain/snow storms.
shaw tech loser- nothing I can do. I'll make a note of the saturation problem but there is nothing wrong with the mainline.
I was pissed, I told him my hubby would be pissed if he came home and this shit wasn't fixed...

Hubby gets home, gets on the phone with shaw, reams them out because they guy did NOTHING, they say he's coming back right now...
guy never shows... but I bet he booked the time..
He never looked at the network, never asked to shut it all down and reset the modem, nothing.
What a load of horseshit. I'd be better off hiring a temp worker or some shopping cart rubby to shimmy up a ladder to replace that line..
But OOh No!! It's Shaw cable systems property so we can't touch it, even though I have 300' of outdoor coax and the tools to make the connections....

Not so true, we have voip, high speed extreme, and digi cable and i get around 1000-1200Kb/S or around 9000-10000mbps it has to do with the way their system is setup its everyone sharing one node so if lots of people have all that shit in your area its generally slower, it was a huge problem back in bc when it first came out. |

I booked ANOTHER appt today.... will be the 5th tech to come to my house.
BUT I'm getting a check cut out to me when they do fix the speed and Im going to be refunded back to when I first ordered Nitro. |

They are going to refund us.. but only for whatever the difference in cost is between the basic and extreme packages for the last six months..
Not good enough. Not when their dorkstick of a tech couldn't be bothered to do the job he was sent out for..
Next time they send someone out, I'll be recording them. if the tech fails to do his job, then I'll send Shaw an email with the video . then I'll send out another email to A-channel with the video.
The guy was a lazy bastard, I never once saw a line level meter, he never bothered to go check out the network, reset modems, nothing. Shithead never even bothered taking his damn shoes off! |
