Repair Shop,
I know that "SilverStone" on 99th Street, just south of Argyll would be a good place, I guess. The guy there ice races Toyotas, so he might kow a thing or two about the MR2.
Parts,
Direct replacement parts can be found anywhere, "I&M Imports" carries a lot of "Harder To Find" parts. Ebay.com
Accesories,
Won't believe how much stuff I have seen in Ebay.com for the MR2

| actually silverstone seems to have been killing their rep as of late.... raymond is usually an ass to you unless he knows u have the money to do stuff. Lately his work hasn't been good either i heard of 2 cases where his rebuilt engines blew 2000km's over their warranty and was not covered. He is very experienced nonetheless but expect to pay over twice as much as any other place. There is another shop that opened back in november right beside street gear... T&T motorsports or something a former silverstone mechanic (2 actually) runs that shop now. Their prices aren't much better than raymond's but then u get better customer service. Personally i dont' think there's anywhere in edmonton that are good w/ imports :\ |

Its not liek there are only 5 shops in town :)
Most of the larger shops couldnt give 2 shits about customers, its the smaller ones that will go the "extra" mile to keep someone happy.. So you needa find a shop with some sort of "street credit" or something... ask in the general forum where people take their cars..... bunch'em will say prodrag. He is on here, and has a pretty good rep with everybody..
I used to take my truck/car to D&D auto, out behind the crazy horse.. They did the V8 conversion on my Jimmy S15, and ALL the work on my Fiero. I never had any complaints, and anything I did have questions about or tuning, he was there to facilitate my needs. I'd recomend them, unfortunatly he closed shop 2 months ago :(
So my search is on too! Lemme know if you find someone who's proficient with mid-engined cars! :D

Well, since I'm not the first one to say it, Silverstone is the place that I have negative feedback about, as well. He makes a lot of money off the fact that his customers don't know as much about JDM engines as he does.
He claims to give a good price, but then he subs in inferior parts from lesser engines, because the customer doesn't know any better. Or else he says the engine is rebuilt, and it turns out that he never even cracked it open before he put it in the car.
Both of the above he pulled on me, and it wasn't until later on (when I knew more about JDM engines) that I found out what he had done.
I agree with ST165 that he's very overpriced, too.................... |

Yeah..I tried to take my 2 in Silverstone...and told the guy I only need the MYSTERY OIL LEAK to be fixed....then he started saying its better to rebuilt it...get the short block....blah,blah...it would need $4-8K to do it.
Hey, Im not building a race car here....besides you can't do it here in Edmonton!
Then when I asked him if I could put a BLACKTOP/SILVERTOP 4AGE...he said "why would you need to put a FWD engine into a 2....If you know someone who did...take it to them".
I know the BLACKTOP/SILVERTOP 4AGE has been done before (check some MR2 forums).....
Find the guy to be knowledgeable but also kinda "INTIMIDATE & IMPRESS" type.
That's all! |

personally i have had good experience w/ pro drag... but lately a couple of my friends say these guys are starting to not stick w/ their quote prices... B4 when i got my exhaust system done theere they were super easy to deal w/, quoted me a price and stuck w/ it... that's what i like about a shop. but my friend went tehre recently for a custom fmic and the guy kept changing the price
I personally have a good mechanic that can do a lot of things for a very good price. but he's a bit busy lately in the summer and still needs to work on my friend and my cars. Gimme a shout if u interested and i'll give u the address when he's got more time. |

Hello Guys,
I just happened upon this thread (I don't cruise through this section of V8less that often). Glad to see that those of you who have had work done @ Pro Drag are still happy.
As for the person that mentioned the changing I/C piping price, when I am asked to estimate a job over the phone or in person without having the car in front of me it is very difficult. That is why I insist on having my tech's look at the car and the job at hand. The only way to know EXACTLY how much a job is going to cost is to do it. If we have done the EXACT same job in the past then it is easy to quote on.
BTW we are going to be finishing our renovations this tuesday, Grand re-opening to be announced shortly. |

SplineZ: LOL
Next you're going to tell me that I shouldn't user Motomaster performance parts, either! (SHEESH!)
One place that IS good for 2's is Autotech on the southside (72st on 76 Ave). They're really good for giving estimates, getting your approval before they do anything, and then only doing what you authorize. |
